Kanter has a lot of the things you can't coach, but he is very young, raw & rusty. At least he's finally back on the court. Icing his knees is just common sense. I think he'll be fine paired with the much more mobile athletic Favors.

With all the qualifiers noted, Jonas seems like he could be an absolute monster. He obv didn't want to play for the Cavs (and likely Jazz either), and his agent was very tricky about his contract situ. But knowing there almost cert won't be a season... Picking Kanter over Jonas is one thing, but Tristan Thompson?

Burks is going to be a terror if Corbin turns him loose to slash and draw fouls. Thankfully Sloan is gone or he'd rot on the bench because he "doesn't fit The (Ringless) System". Focus on what guys can do, not can't do. What an outside-inside combo he & Hayward could be.

Burks 3pt shot mechanics look fine in the recent vids I've seen. He's big, fast and can really get to the hoop. What a steal at 12 in that cruddy draft. He & Jonas might be the best players from it, tho I'm bullish on Enes too.

@gchris: and the answer to that question will be "Who's Jimmer Fredette?..."

I have to side with Calgary on this one....i mean...we are...a pick and roll team right?....that's Jonas V specialty....if he saw the plays we run...it would probably easy for him...since he loves to set picks...and roll ro the paint....But....and that's a big But...I'd give him a chance....for like 3-5 years....before calling him a bust....he hasnt played in two years...anyone who hasnt played competitive ball in two years...will get rusty....timing will be off...mental side of the game will definitely be off...second guessing your moves...remember MJ...when he first returned to basketball after his baseball stint...although...they went to the playoffs...i think he was a bit rusty at the time...a year later...he was back to his dominating self and won 3 straight rings then got bored and retired...

There is some justice in the world. Kanter and Fes actually getting to play competitively while American pros sit. Yeah, I know, some of the American pros are going to play some Euro ball, too... just time for a little chuckle here. This could turn out fine, Kanter getting back into playing shape, finding his game again. I'm not worried about things...football is here and the Jazz will be back.

Kanter just had 14 points on 7 0f 9 shooting with 7 boards in his first non exhibition game with Turkey.

@byronbca- thanks for the update. I wish someone at the DESNEWS WOULD ALSO GIVE US AN UPDATE!!!

I'm having to search through random blogs to find out how Kanter is doing. Us JAZZ FANS ARE SUFFERING. Give us something!!!! Its been a long, lonely summer!

The games are on ESPN3... I'm stuck at work so I can't watch them. Can't someone at DesNews watch the games and write an article for us?

Those who are interested should look up the FIBA scores. Kanter got a team high 19 points and 5 reb on 22 mins versus Portugal. I believe that's his best game. 9-10 from the free throw line...

Portugal's a short team though. Tomorow at 8:45AM on FIBA is the real test versus Spain and the Gasol bros.

@Anonigma

Hope you could inform us...with the Turkey - Spain Game...hope we could get videos...i want to see how he moves without the ball and on D...

2pts, 1 reb in 14 min vs Spain and P.Gasol did not play. Kakashi you can catch Eurobasket games live on FIBA official Eurobasket2011 page or on espn, or on numerous websites who stream live sports.

Yeah, the Spain game was bad for Kanter. He just couldn't get into the game. Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol were Spain's frontcourt btw, no Pau today. I hope length doesn't bother him.

Turkey advanced to the next round, so there will be at least 4 more games.
ESPN3 is a good resource to watch these games. They also have the FIBA Euro scoreboards.

Next game is Wednesday at 9AM (Utah time). Just search "FIBA ESPN" on google.
The schedule is empty, but there'll be games when they determine the brackets.

My bad, the next game will be vs. France at noon on Wednesday.

Enes Kanter should be fine once he can start playing with the pros on their court. Practice and hard work will transform this guy into a real machine. Kanterfans support him now and in the future as a Utah Jazz player. We hope for him the best of luck in the transitional phase he is having to go through. As with most of the rookies this year, frustration of the system is inevitable. Maybe, after the lockout ends things will look more promising for rookies and fans alike. In the meantime, NFL will have to suffice.

wow...just 2 pts and 1 reb in 14 mins of play?...against marc gasol and serge ibaka?...i was expecting at least 10-10..he is still young though...we really wouldnt know what he'll become...all he has now...is potential...i hope he'll work extremely hard on his game...I really hope the Jazz players are working on their game...i wish Favors would take the opportunity of the lockout...to gain more solid post moves...and a go to move...probably...go to hakeem and learn a few moves?...practice his shooting...since i saw this vid of him, Hayward and Evans last year...a practice shooting with Hornacek...i noticed that Favors releases the ball as he goes down on his shot...Evans...hope he adds some muscle but still have that hops...and Hayward...hope he improves further...i really view him as a bigger Manu...if the core youth group of our team...worked together next year...i mean..become sort of like brothers...our team would dominate in the years to come....

@Kakashi

Yeah, Kanter did have a nice move on Gasol though in that game. Turk vs. France was pretty bad too, although he had some nice blocks on Noah.

The problem is you have you to take Euro stats with a grain of salt. Turkey is like the Euro Golden State. It's better to watch Kanter in game and see how he plays w/ and w/o the ball. His strength is what pops out at you. He man-handles people down in the post. You should see his Euro highlights on youtube.

I get twitter feeds from Favors, Miles, Hayward, and Burks.
Based solely upon those feeds, Favors is working very hard in Atlanta. Supposedly he was in an Atlanta Pro Am league and his team was in the championships...although nothing can be found on the net...

I can't understand Miles or Burks. Hayward and Burks both are working together in Indiana. Hayward is in the #Lockout League with some other Indy pros. They play Durantula, Wall, and others this upcoming week...it's a huge game.

Jeremy Evans just signed up for the Impact League. That should be very exciting.

@ Anonigma

I feel ya man...that's why i wanna look at the videos...to understand how good a player is....you really need to watch him move with or without the ball...the decisions...how he set picks...how he rotates...does he box out...and stuff...that's why i rather watch him play...guess i have to watch through the net...though...i thought...it would be easy to get 10-10 from him...its still too early anyway...and im sure...he's a monster waiting to happen...for now...im focusing on Football....NFL is here....and im a Bears fan...and its not going well for me...lol

@Everyone who wants to see an Euro game

Search: "Germany vs Turkey (09.09.2011)"

Someone uploaded the whole game. See how Kanter plays against Nowitzki! Man, and I thought Nowitzki was lacking in the tourney....turns out I was wrong.

It's a good game, considering we probably won't see any NBA action for quite a while

@Anonigma

I saw the Germany Turkey...with the Kanter Highlights...and i saw his move against Kaman...and it was good...he has Solid Low Post moves...he knows how to use his body...he only needs playing time...the confidence is there...the european game...is very different from the NBA...but i like what i see in Kanter...its going to be extremely tough...for the team...to make minutes...for 6 guys in 2 positions....Al Jeff...Paul Millsap...Al Jefferson...Enes Kanter...Memo Okur...that is Depth...on the front court...Millsap would probably get minutes at the 3...right now...im having trouble distributing the minutes...to the guys on the Team...but im sure...once the lockout is over....the GMs...would start calling...wheelin and dealin....

i read an article...about...Valaciunas and Kanter...during the recent league...and...they have almost similar stats...Valaciunas leads Kanter by just 0.4 pts...but shoots an extremely efficient 70+%...on FG and FT...Kanter...rebounds more than Valaciunas...shoots at 50-60%FG and 65+% FT...
