phoenix,It's a whole lot easier to point out problems than it is to
fix them.Of course its less than ideal to have Wynn recovering from
a shoulder surgery and missing practice for a current illness, but what are you
proposing? Pull the plug on Jordan Wynn and give the ball to someone else? One
of the backups that don't look ready, but aren't currently sick?Don't be offended if I believe Coaches Whittingham and Chow have a better idea
of how to handle the situation than you do.
The Ute fan base imploding. This is too much!
Utah will be fine with whoever the quarterback is. Kyle is a great coach and he
will have Utah ready to compete in the PAC12.
"Do you really believe that a bunch of college teammates who are competing
against each other are not going to joke around and try to get under each others
skins? If you believe that, you obviously were never young."The
real question is, are Utah fans really so clueless that they actually believe
that players joke around about their teammates' injuries?
Phoenix,***It doesn't matter how good your coaches are if you can't
practice. Unless the Utes have discovered some secret alternative to practice
that is unknown to the rest of the universe, the Utes are in big trouble
offensively -- a wounded/sick QB who can't practice, decimated OL, new
receivers, new running backs, new offense, and limited practice time.***And yet this article says that the offense performed better today than
the awesome defense. Care to explain how if the offense is so awful, how did
they perform better?Go Utes!
I am waiting for the report by the coaches about preping the backup. I posted
yesterday and lo and behold it happens today. Can I say I told you so. I have
some conerns about the u this year.
Utah'95"Fortunately the Utes are coached by quality
coaches"It doesn't matter how good your coaches are if you
can't practice. Unless the Utes have discovered some secret alternative to
practice that is unknown to the rest of the universe, the Utes are in big
trouble offensively -- a wounded/sick QB who can't practice, decimated OL, new
receivers, new running backs, new offense, and limited practice time. And this is all going to somehow magically come together in less than two
Fortunately the Utes are coached by quality coaches, rather than any number of
you guys.Let's let Coaches Whit and Chow decide who should play
Re ducky:You're right ducky, college football players never joke
about things that may be considered insensitive, they certainly would never brag
about hurting one another, and I'm sure all the trash talk is on the up and
up."No one "talks smack" or "jokes" about
hurting their teammate". Are you for real? Yes they do, and all the time.
The operative word here being "jokes".Do you really
believe that a bunch of college teammates who are competing against each other
are not going to joke around and try to get under each others skins? If you
believe that, you obviously were never young.
Hey Ute fans....Don't be so hard on your team. You've got talent
and a great coaching staff. Whittingham will find a way! Now come September 17
I have to root for the Y, but before and after that I'm pulling for the Utes
too. I hope you crush USC. I can't stomach their fight song and
they way they play it! Good luck this year. It'll be fun.
Quackmeister regularly provides these boards with unintentional comedy as
evidenced by his last sentence in his 4:54 PM post.LOL!
Oh my, the last sentence of Duck's post is the most ironic thing I've read in a
long time. It's the equivalent of OJ being on the jury of a murder trial.
Wynn may be tough or he might not be, but I am not impressed with his
gamemanship and intelligence. If he was playing hurt and it affected his ability
to compete, he should have been the first to tap himself out of the game and
given the ball to a QB that would be able to complete passes. He may be tough,
but if his selfishness cost the Utes wins last year, I wouldn't trust him to run
@byronbca" If you think that the D line hasn't been talking
smack to the O line about how many injuries they've caused to them you are
crazy. I bet the coaches even get into it a little bit. Football is a sport
where players try to hurt each other and they have been known to joke about
these types of things."You've obviously never played football
and don't know a thing about it. No one "talks smack" or
"jokes" about hurting their teammate. Yes they may celebrate a big hit
on the field but actually causing a teammate an injury that puts them out for a
period of time is not something any football player "jokes" about.Good Grief that might be the dumbest claim in the history of these
boards and that's really saying something considering some of the stuff wedgie,
howie, and christina post.
Re ImaCaMan:Lighten up, you shouldn't take everything so seriously. I
don't really think that the O line is going to throw a party to celebrate that
they hurt a teammate, merely that they would to happy to even the score a little
bit. If you think that the D line hasn't been talking smack to the O line about
how many injuries they've caused to them you are crazy. I bet the coaches even
get into it a little bit. Football is a sport where players try to hurt each
other and they have been known to joke about these types of things.
I have high expectations for the Utes this year, maybe even higher than Hedgie.
I expect them to beat Montana State comfortably and win all six home games this
year as long as they do their best and do not give up. The question I have is
can they win on the road. The Utes best two games will be weeks two
and three, both on the road against teams with chips on their shoulders and from
strong deep programs. I want the Utes to beat USC. I really do. All this talk
about Winn tells me that it isn't going to happen. BYU isn't going to be kind
to the Utes the week after. Can the Utes rebound or will they wilt if this
happens?I see them pulling it together after the BYU game and
finishing 8-4 (losses to Pitt, USC, BYU and Cal). Can't we START the
season last week?
Re: byronbcaYou're willing to bet that the offensive linemen are
celebrating because a defensive linman is injured? I'm embarassed to be a fan
of the same team as you.
A quote from Patrick Kinahan who was at practice today:"Utah
offense looked awful in the 2-minute drill at the end of practice"I just don't think anyone knows how bad/good anyone will be until they start
playing some opponents.
I bet the O line is secretly celebrating that someone on the D line finally went
down. It's great to hear that the backup QB is starting to pick up the offense,
chances are we'll need him at some point.Re Dand:How is a QB
who plays an entire season on a throwing shoulder that needed surgery soft? He
may be injury prone but I don't think you can question his toughness.Re Lone:The secondary was a question mark coming into fall camp, but
nobody who has seen them play are questioning them now. Try and keep up.
I don't know where all the optimism for the season is coming from. I highly
doubt Wynn makes it through the season, which leaves no experience in the
backfield. And don't get started on the defensive secondary. Not so sure all of
that equals success for the PAC 12.
Jordan Wynn is SO SO SOFT! I the boy needs to grow up a lot to help Utah win!
Soft O Line Soft QB. Not a good combination!
If Hays is finding a rhythm with the first team, play him. It's the only
encouraging news I've heard about the offense in the entire camp. So much of
being a good QB is about the timing and knowing the tendencies of your team
mates. Whoever gives the team the best chance of winning. And right now, I'm not
convinced that is Jordan.
