I would think the most obvious "symptom" of being shy is not liking to talk to people. That wasn't mentioned on the list. Forty per cent of people claim to be shy? They don't know what shy is. I was extremely shy as a child. I hardly spoke to anyone. I was too embarrassed.

Shyness has many reasons but its not a disorder. Shyness is the opposite of a bully, the bully has to keep proving to themselves and the shy are open to learning. Many times a shy child is misdiagnosed as a disorder when they are an abused child demeaned by parents of educators and other peers.

I believe that shy children are smarter than average and teachers and education just don't know how to cope with someone smarter than they are. Schools have devised this system that all children have one intelligence and that is why children are dumber coming out of school than if they just stayed home and read the comics. Educations should go back to measuring intelligence and abilities and recognizing those children, it gives their peers a goal.

Most people believe education makes you smart but education is for those who lack the intelligence to grasp a concept or see beyond the obvious. That's why most geniuses flunk out of schools or quit going to school.

Schools have this insane idea their only purpose is to make money and learning is a herding by-product. Sheep following each other.
