Wow, a lot of harsh responses to an honest question.

I don't think that that UofU does a live scrimage everyday, so they don't report stats everyday because it is fairly useless to post whether or not a QB completes a pass against a defense that is going half speed just to get the timing of a play down. I was honestly curious if BYU scrimages everyday...thus the stats. If not, then the stat reporting is mostly useless. But, I guess that is how BYU wins the preseason national championship trophy each fall camp....going to the best fall camp team in the nation...only to end up in the Vegas bowl.

Maybe the team shouldn't report stats every day to hype up the entire fanbase, only to let them down the first 4 games of every season. Face it, the Cougars aren't good enough to go undefeated against this schedule. As an indy, 1 loss puts you out of a BCS game. So within the first 3-4 games after the 1st loss, BYU and its fans will have nothing more than the Kraft Fight Hunger bowl (or whatever it is). Depressing!!!

"Can someone tell me why the Cougars ALWAYS report the stats from each practice?"

    Simple.

Teams that have football savvy fans, and have nothing to hide, post daily stats to let their fans know how things are going in practice.

    And.

Teams whose starting QB is hardly practicing and whose backup quarterbacks are scary bad, keep mum on their daily stats to avoid alarming their already uneasy fanbase, that they're in big, big trouble at QB.

    GoUTES:

I think starfarer meant to direct his post at ute4ever. He probably got you mixed up with GOUTESSS who shows up on BYU articles with regularity.

BYU won in 2009, 07, 06, not exactly dominating by the U for four years in a row!!

A little off topic but interesting to look at none the less. A position by position look at how the utes and cougars are doing against each other only including position that both have commits in. (Rankings done by scout.com)
    byu utah
    qb 10 37
    safety 71 65
DE 14 4-star jc transfer- no position rank for jc transfers
    DE #2 70 120
    WR 74 138
I know its early and a lot can change by febuary but it looks like the cougs are doing pretty good. Looks like the they are up 4-1 (I count, along with any other logical person, that a four star highschooler trumps a four star jc transfer)

The Ute's will dominate the Cougar's for the fourth year in a row! Why do you even have a team if it lose's to the Ute's so much!!

And the cow jumped over the moon.

Oh boy. 1-3 for 9 yards? I smell a quarterback controversy!!

Can someone tell me why the Cougars ALWAYS report the stats from each practice? Do the Cougars scrimage every day or something? There are never reports on player stats from Utah practices unless it's a scrimage. If they are reporting the practice stats, I'm not sure how anyone can put any stock in the reported numbers.

oh no Heaps finally threw a pick, bench him now LOL.Heaps is just fine and even on Heaps worst day I would still take him over Wynn on his best day.

ute4ever can you please tell us why you and your other troll friends are so interested and obsessed with everything BYU does? Seems to me if you really where a ute fan you would be spending more time on their articles instead of byu artices 24/7.

    @utefaninstgeorge

    Bronco 3 - whiningham 3.

Each is 50/50 over the past 6 years.

George is still open...so is Harline!

"Can someone tell me why the Cougars ALWAYS report the stats from each practice?"

Because BYU actually has fans that care and understand football.

You wouldn't know what that is like as a ute...

    Go Cougars!

They say that Heaps pick came out of McKay Jacobsen's hands. They said his other pass could have been picked of by Uona. Not a great day, then again, three passes isn't a very representative sample size.

    @UteFanInStGeorge
Fourth year in a row of Ute domination? You have a bad memory. We have split the past six games in football. We have won 9 of the past 11 games in basketball. Check the stats before you speak. We have pretty much split games during the tenures of Bronco and Kyle. UteFanInStGeorge must really be a BYU fan trolling as a Ute fan to make Ute fans look bad.

I like to think that the defense is getting better and they responded today. I hope this means the secondary is improving.

Drew Phillips is joining the team on the first day of school. I guess he is missing fall camp while he gets grades figured out.

This is just the ebbs and flows of fall camp. Heaps has had an excellent camp so far, the defense stepped it up today in the back field. The o-line was dominant but the d-line will have their day too.

Jake will be just fine. The only controversy is who took hanna montana's shoulder and put it on Jordyn Wynn's?

  • Starfarer Mesa, AZ
    Aug. 11, 2011 4:39 p.m.

    GoUTES

So if we take Jake's stats for the week as a series of plays in the first half of a game, Jake has thrown for about 300+ yards and four touchdowns, and one pick.

    And your point was?

    From your own post:

Can someone tell me why ute trolls ALWAYS comment on BYU articles? Do they read BYU articles everyday or something? There are never any good stats from Utah practices. If they are reporting the practice stats, I'm not sure how anyone can put any stock in ute trolls comments.

    hedgehog

Sounds like heaps was out played by the other 8 QB's today. It must be dishearting to branka to see his Heisman shoe-in throw a bad pick ( almost two).

Might want to think about the red shirt or mission option.

Hedgy...you better worry about your Utes...your quarterback didn't even throw yesterday...is his arm still hurting??? You have no back up and according to one of the coaches (Ute) if he goes down, your in trouble...and with the young poor offensive line you have...there are dark clouds on the horizon...Montana State could lay him out for the year...

But, not to worry, you are more concerned with BYU (I know, a closet fan)

    Have a nice day...

You don't hear stats from Ute practice because Christina Wynn doesn't ever play. She usually is getting a pedicure and hairstyle on the side lines. Oh and fakes shoulder soreness so she doesn't have to get hit. Real Gutsy ha ha

Love how HH self'recommends' his post right away...typical ute.

From the article: 'the o-line provided some gaping holes for the running backs

So, this means either the o-line is great and the d-line is not so great, or the d-line is great and the o-line is super great? Anyone know how the defensive line is shaping up?

ute4ever. Let me report your stats for Wynn. 0 for 0, but his shoulder is fine. Don't you wish Terrance Cain had eligibility? I sure do. Hedgie was telling me that Jack Murphy looked good and they were going to move him to QB.

Hey hedgehodge. Wasting more time on BYU articles? Shouldn't you be commenting about 'Jack' Murphy on Ute articles? Let us know how Harlod Langi is doing as the #1 RB. How is Justin Wynn's shoulder? Is Brad Blechen OK after that bee stung him? Is Kent Whittingham still playing loud music at practice? Come on man, you need to keep us updated on everything Utes.
