Seriously...when is the Desnews going to become a newspaper again? You're agenda has become so transparent. Are you on Mitt's campaign payroll? Please start reporting facts instead of spreading this barrage of misinformation. You are doing your readers, and democracy, a disservice.
@cla
Desnews is reporting facts--Its a fact that the media outlets cited in this story said what they were quoted as saying--the other papers are the ones doing the commentary.
Obama should call him "peculiar". LDS folks will think its a compliment.
I don't see what's so wrong with the report, of course Obama will fail. But it won't be because of any campaign trick... it will simply be that he can't stand on his record. Blaming the GOP and Tea Party just isn't going to fly when debate time comes around.
Funny world we live in... a month ago Obama had the election in the bag b/c the GOP couldn't put up a strong candidate. Now he's lost it all, and he doesn't even know it yet.
Obama may end up helping Romney's campaign .... assuming the Democrats don't nominate Hillary to run in Obama's place.

Oh NOW it's 'purported'?
Yesterday Obama's campaign was going to 'Kill Romney.'
All this 'outrage' and violent rhetoric from the right about Obama targeting the leading GOP canidate, but they don't say ANYTHING about Romney targeting Obama...

It's amusing to me that Obama views Romney as such a viable threat and makes me assume that Obama himself understands that he has a good shot of losing a reelection bid. If he were not so concerned then why would he bring up a topic that evangelicals will probably raise anyway? This whole thing will just keep getting more and more amusing as we get closer to Nov 2012! I, for one, can't wait to watch the theater play out and see just how desperate the President gets.

Um, no.
A 'fact' would have a STATEMENT from the Obama campaign actually MAKING this claim.
Since that has not happened, the DSNews has chosen to publish HERESAY as a news article.
Next, they will be telling us you can get Papsmears at Walgreens.
*'Walgreens Corrects Fox & Friends: We Don't Offer Pap Smears' - Media Matters - 04/11/11
On Saturday's Fox & Friends, co-hosts Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade attempted to dismiss the importance of Planned Parenthood funding by claiming that services like pap smears are available "at Walgreens'. In response to an email about the segment, a Walgreens spokesperson told Media Matters that they do not offer such services.
When did the DSNews trade in on it's journalistic integrity?

That's the problem. People have become so guilible by the 'news' that they have forgotten...
Obama has NOT called Romney's religion 'weird'. Or anything else.
Obama, and his campaign, haven't actually SAID anything yet!
For shame on you Deseret News.
Headlines of recent Deseret News articles:

I'd dare say that the Deseret News has made much more of an issue of Romney's religion than Barack Obama ever will.
No surprise that the President would view Mitt as the only viable Republican candidate...he is a weak horse in a stable of mavericks: Bachmann's, Palin's, Paul's and Perry's - none of whom could muster enough votes together to get elected on a laundry ticket.
Mitt is weak, because he is Mr. Flip Flop, the ultimate Republican carpetbagger, who despite his Michigan roots would have Detroit fail, speaks now against his own medical care program like the President got it directly from Lucifer and who taunts himself as a business leader, yet as governor of Massachusetts had job growth of less than 1%.
Those who think that the American public will lay this politicized debt crisis on Democratic doorsteps, do not give the American people enough credit. It was Republicans who from the very beginning drew the line in the sand and said they would not negotiate. The same 120 Republicans who voted for 6 or 7 Bush increases in the debt ceiling now would not on "principle" vote for this one. The principle was that the President was a democrat. They would rather the Nation's credit rating and stock markets suffer trillions in losses than permit a perceived victory.
@Pagan--
Please Calm down--your bias is much worse than that of the Deseret News. You would do well to put your efforts towards something worth while rather than spending countless hours arguing about Desnews posts online--start a charity or something.
Okay, when will you ant-DN posters realize that all newspapers and news sources have certain leanings? SL Tribune, Washington Times, etc., have their own agendas too. Most people in this state are Mormons and they will of course want to read about Mormon issues/news and Mitt Romney is present news for LDS members. Huntsman too though not doing as well thus far. Im sure this should have been real obvious, people!
My issue however, is with Harry Reid and Mormon Democrats. If all this anti-LDS attack by Obama and the Dems materializes, will they finally stand up and take a stand or will politics trump their LDS affiliation?
Romney is Weird:
An employee of Romney had a daughter disappear in New York City. Romney canceled work and asked all his employees to go to NYC and help locate the young lady. Romney set up a command center, organized the search, involved police, grocery stores, etc. It made the press. It cost Romney a fortune. It saved the girls life. That is just weird. Nobody does that.
Romney took over the SLC Olympic organizing committee, ended the scandal and turned the first every profit for the Winter Olympics. That's just weird.
Romney buys bankrupt companies that nobody else would touch and turns them around. That's just weird.
Romney is weird, a weirdness America desperately needs.
Vote Romney Vote Weird.
(Thanks Obama for the Romney Campaign Slogan)
"He cited Gallup poll results which show that the number of persons who said they would not vote for a Mormon is lower when just surveying Republicans (18 percent) but increases among Democrats (27 percent) and independents (19 percent)."
Wait, we've been told all this time by Democrats that Republicans hate Mormons, are intolerant, and would never vote for Mormons while the tolerant Democrats would welcome Mormonism with welcome arms. I guess they were wrong!
Pagan,
"Unless things change and Obama can run on accomplishments, he will have to kill Romney, said a prominent Democratic strategist aligned with the White House." -from the Politico article
To me that sounds like Obama and his campaign did in fact say "kill". At least the Democratic strategists and the White House are saying it.
"I'd dare say that the Deseret News has made much more of an issue of Romney's religion than Barack Obama ever will."
What a shock! A newspaper owned by the LDS Church makes an issue of Romney's religion (which happens to be LDS)! Let me guess, the University of Utah newspapers have a bias towards the University of Utah sports teams, don't they?
I first heard about this "plan" from Obama's campaign on MSNBC--as if DN had any power over a MSM source like MSNBC.
Re: "I'm not the one claiming to be a newspaper."
Good thing.
Just out of curiosity, what are you claiming to be -- besides two people, Pagan and Pagen?
paganette:
waiting for you to tie this article into:
Prop 8
homophobia
Mormons
how lousy a place Utah is to live in
o doesn't stand a chance.
the market is only down 500 plus today. hey that's change i can believe in.
glad you like o so much. he'll need a right hand when he goes back to community organizing.
Pagen/Pagan,
Does Obama seal his lips while his campaign strategists do all the talking? Or does Obama say things? Just because it hasn't been reported that he said it doesn't mean that he never did. Where do you think the strategists are picking it up? Guess who happens to live in the White House? Put two and two together.
If you are clinging on to claims such as this for your defense of Obama then you Obama supporters are in a SAD condition right now.
Lets just face it everyone.....Obama is a ONE term President!I don't think it will take much for onyone to be elected president in 2012, but Mitt Romney can do the job. If the first black man can be elected, why not the first Morman?
