I just watched a bunch of Langi. I know it was against highschoolers but he is fast! He takes the pitch and he is gone. On the chance that the D catches him, he lowers head shoulder and takes them out. This should be a fun year to watch the Utes!!

Love having a competition of highly talented guys pushing each other to get better to win playing time. Best way to prepare for the season IMO.

I like all of our options, but I would love to see Thretton Palamo tear it up. Between Langi, White, and Palamo I think we have a good future at RB.

A lot of programs are rotating two running backs, rather than featuring one. Having a strong 3rd back in the rotation is great. Its not like the quarterback position where if you have 3 quarterbacks, you have none.

We have a good plethora of strong and fast RBs! I know the top three RBs are at the top of the depth chart, but they should try and get Lucky Radley some reps to work on his game despite last year's struggles with holding on to the football during Spring/Fall camps. He has untapped potential and speed to go per yesterday's 60 yard jail break for the end zone. Nonetheless, I feel confident with the three guys battling it out for the 1 and 2 spot! I also believe we will have a good secondary! That is my belief! Go UTES!

I'm with AntelopeValleyUte. I know all the attention is on Thretton/White/Harvey, but don't count Lucky out. I've loved his enthusiasm.

RB talent, gotta love it! HOpe the O-line can open the holes for them.

Also, watch out for the little fast shifty guys, ala White. Watched Dexter McCluster (5ft8) tear things up at my daughter's high school, then at Ole Miss, and now for the KC Chiefs. They can break things open.

GOOOO UTES!!!

My long shot has to be Thretton Palamo.
I played winger on the Ute Rugby squad and the backfield with Palamo should be a hard hitting one , those Rugby backs are TOUGH plus he's a great blocker. I think that he could be a beast as he is only a Sophomore.

I'll be interested in seeing how Jarrell Oliver shows. The Texas recruit had offers at Michigan, Arkansas and AZ. St.

As much as i think Palamo is the man (had best performance in the spring game), he's built more like a full back. He'll probably be used for short yardage, and picking up the blitz on obvious passing situations. He could be used as the lead blocker with Langi as tailback. The opposing LB's will be in pain by the 3rd quarter with that combo.

Good report Utes, nice place to be in! Good luck in all of your conference games and most of your OOC games too.

Although Coach Whit doesn't usually leave too much to luck...

Could not help but notice your comment about Thretton...(had best performance in the spring game)... far from the truth.

From the D-News April 16th report on the high scoring 7-0 Red / White game.

"Langi, the freshman from Bingham High School, was the offensive star as he rushed for 63 yards on 12 carries, bulldozing his way through defenders for extra yards. John White led the White team with 36 yards on six carries, while Lucky Radley ran for 28 yards for the Reds and Thretton Palamo had just four yards on two carries for the Whites."

Thretton might be a very good rugby player but Langi knows football, maybe Thretton will get the hang of it.

Bottom Line

Wow that was brutal to read about the bee sting on Blechen's throat. Glad to hear that he was back at practice. He is a difference maker for the Utes. Personally, I see the running back spot at Utah as a current weakness with a potential for quality and down the road real strength. If you read Chow's comments and others it is obvious they are concerned. They know they have talent, but experience will come with time. I see Langi emerging as the primary ball carrier with White getting the secondary carries.

Are we a bit hyper-sensitive ? SammyG didn't badmouth the ute program at all. He just pointed out the Langi had the best Spring game performance and is probably your best option at RB. Try to be a little objective before responding.

Wow. Is a BYU fan calling a Utah fan sensitive? Are you serious?

"SALT LAKE CITY Thretton Palamo was surprised to learn he was the leading rusher in Utah's first spring scrimmage.

"I didn't even know that," Palamo said after rushing for 73 yards on 16 carries Friday afternoon at Rice-Eccles Stadium."

You're right, It wasn't the spring game. I still stand by the fact that this kid will be a punisher-whether as a runner or a blocker- it doesn't really matter.
