"Just because you thought of it doesn't mean it's inspired"
I heard Elder Richard G. Scott say once to a group of full-time missionaries, that because we were engaged in spiritual matters full time, "It is very likely that every good idea you have is inspiration." I agree with your rule as it applies to the mundane daily tasks in our lives, but I think anytime we engage in the Lord's work, we are entitled to His help and direction. You might say but we often receive the answer to proceed in our best knowledge, but I think that in itself is inspired.
I agree with and enjoyed your insights regarding our need to be patient with those we work with in our wards and stakes. I would like to add a comment regarding what I've seen on only a couple of occasions that is something I have difficulty with: A person who states "Oh, I've always wanted to be a ................!" (fill in the blank) when they are called to a position in the Church. That person will then eagerly implement his/her own agenda rather than seeking the inspiration that is indispensible in all callings in the Church.
