Obama is trying to negotiate from a position of weakness and the Republicans appear to let him sit and stew in the mess he helped create. It's a win-win for them and the best case scenario for Obama leaves him looking weak. Too bad he didn't take the opportunity to try some bridge building when he had the chance.
Luckily for the Republicans a lot of Democrats have joined them on this issue because the fear what the voters might do to them is they don't.
