I think real "scare tactics" must involve using the term "mushroom cloud".
What's the financial advantage of paying the interest only on our debt. Couldn't that money have been better spent on developing alternate sources of energy?
The Federal Government reminds me of the unwise man who gets payday loans. If he's already spending more than he makes how can he afford to pay the additional interest?
