Kanter wears 0? Interesting, I hope he's a little better then a guy that wore 00 for the Jazz
@JazzMan - that was my first thought too!
I'm excited about Kanter but a bit worried about Burks. He might just be out of his element with the media right now, bit I'm nervous about an immaturity problem like we saw with Snyder and other very young draftees. Hopefully he'll shine and be great. In another interview he referred to his mom keeping him in line, so hopefully he has a good foundation from home.
Now sign Jason Richardson as the starting shooting guard and the Jazz are back in the playoffs.
Either get on board and wish all the "very" best fans or go somewhere else. Afterall the draft is now history and everyone must live with what we have. I feel extremely positive about the future for this franchise and will back them 100%. It matters very little which numbers they want to wear, I want to see effort, desire, and a will to win. Good luck men!
The point of the game is to score the most points! Note to Jazz: whoever scores the most points, WINS! Why on earth would you pass up Jimmer? That's why the Jazz won't win any championships! Who get's a great draft pick draft pick and passes up on Jimmer? Not a smart choice!
National Media:
Utah should walk away very satisfied with the talent that they picked up in the draft. They maximized both picks extremely well and are our biggest winners on draft night.
Locals:
We didn't get Jimmer. Draft grade "F".
How refreshing to hear a Jazz Coach say that rookies will have the chance to play if they work hard. I'm still not sold on Corbin, but at least he recognizes the need to play the best talent.
I am still perplexed as to why many people are calling Burks the next Brewer.
I didn't see many Colorado games, but the ones I did left me impressed with Burks. Jazz fans should go back and look at how many close games Colorado had, and won, against top 25 teams. Burks always stepped his game up against Kansas, Texas, etc.
Burks carried that team. He led his team in points and assists while being second in rebounds. He got to the line more often than Jimmer and shot a high percent. He can handle the ball and get into the lane at will. If he can improve his 3pt consistency and work at defense, the Jazz will have a legit starting SG for a long time.
So Far:
F: Favors, Elson, Millsap, Evans
F: Kirilenko, Hayward, Miles
C: Jefferson, Okur, Kanter, Fesenko
G: Burks, Bell,
G: Harris, Watson, Price
Who's going to be gone by season's start?
MiP
Actually only the following players are under contract for next year:
PG: Harris
SG: Bell, Burks
SF: Hayward, Evans
PF: Millsap, Favors, Okur
C: Big Al, Kanter
I would love to see AK and Fes brought back at a reasonable price. I know people aren't high on Fes, but there aren't many 7 ft 300 pounders out there.
The Jazz need a backup PG and a shooter and as much as I like CJ and Price I don't think they'll be back. (It's a shame the Jazz gave Maynor away to get under the cap. He'd be a great backup PG for this team.)
I really like Shannon Brown and hope he opts out of his last year. He's not really a PG, but he is a great defender and could be paired with Burks to bring the ball up. Redd is another great free agent option.
mema
Jimmermania is over.
If Sac had the #1 pick, do you think they would have picked up Jimmer? I really doubt it. O'connor got the best talent available at 3. They actually tried to trade up a bit to get Jimmer but is was not to be.
Kanter is a beast with talent. You don't pass that up.
For the Jazz sake, they sould trade Fesenko, Bell, Elson, and Price for a new popcorn maker.
Bell is DONE!
Fes is worthless!
Elson is almost as bad as Fes!
Price can't shoot!
CJ can't shoot!
Harris is the worst Defensive player in the league. Ok, maybe Boozer!
Drop some dead weight and get 1 shooter.
Step off LeBron, The new utah jazz are going to meet Ya"ll in the NBA Finals 2012
I was happy with the draft. The Jazz tried to move up to number two and get Williams, a great shooter, but couldn't. They got Kanter who was highly sought after and should turn out to be a good player. They tried to move up from number 12, but couldn't. If it had happened they probably would have taken Knight. Wouldn't that have been lovely. The order of the draft after Knight went Walker, Jimmer, Tray Thonmpson, Burks. I would have liked Tray Thompson over Jimmer, but it would have been difficult between Jimmer and Burks. The Jazz did not have to make that decision and got a great player. I wish Jimmer well in Sacramento. The brass love him there and he might be a better fit in Sacramento. The Jazz did as well as they could and I am excited to see them play. Go Jazz
The Jazz did ok. Now they will have to see who they can trade and who they can pick up in free agency. They have the makings of a good team. Burks has good stats like shooting 60% his freshman year and has great potential. I hope things work out for Kanter and Burks. We should have two good players for a long time.
@ Black Shirts
Remind me how you "trade" a free agent? Fes, Elson and Price are all gone to FA. We will not resign them. We are stuck with Bell for now and hopefully they will pick up CJ's contract... He can't shoot? Not consistently but when he is on he is on!!!
We do need to resign Watson who is also a free agent.
Jazz can't trade Fes, Elson & Price as all are free agents.
One thing is for sure, were Sloan still around the Jazz absolutely would've taken Knight and Leonard/Singleton, and maybe he'd've been right. Let's check back in three years.
I like their choices.
For what it's worth, Jalen Rose of ESPN also thinks Utah has the best draft...
Go Jazz!
Makes playoff next year!
You trust who? Jalen Rose? He is probably the worst analyst around...
Happy with picks, just need to make a couple of trades & the Jazz will be back in the hunt for finals within 2 seasons
Players for trade - Memo, CJ (after option is picked up), Bell (a must) & Milsap or AJ - which everone will accept the back role for Kanter & Favors.
At one time could we see this young athletic line up
1. Burks - 6.6
2. Hayward - 6.8
3. Evans - 6.9
4. Favors - 6.10
5. Kanter - 6.11
Nice - will be after 2 years developing together - this would create some match up problems
