I'm not too eager to write off the Jazz. Sure, Jimmer on the team would have been great, but only if they'd gotten rid of Harris to get him. He'd need playing time to acclimate himself to the NBA. Wouldn't get it warming a bench or just being an occassional scorer off the bench.

As it is, Jimmer will be "king" in Sacramento, because he WILL get the playing time to develop.

The Jazz still need a superstar to either emerge or get picked up somewhere, somehow. Maybe in next year's draft where they might again have two lottery picks.

Or, maybe Hayward will further blossom. Not so sure it's in him. I think he'll be an all-star, though.

I'm looking forward to see how the two new rookies develop for the Jazz. The potential for a perennial playoff team is there, but the team is lacking a superstar to get them all the way.

I used to be a jazz fan. a big one. but they have stopped being the jazz team i know. started with john and karl. Then we had a tough eight years. then ak 47 was the hero. but look at him now. mullet, tattoo, coming off the bench, and oh yeah, we are playing him..what...15 million dollars. then deron and boozer were the face of the team. they were fun to watch and we had a couple runs deep into the playoffs. but boozer left. and I was glad he did. because i felt like milsap could take his place. did he? no. And then we ship off deron. so now, I don't know what the jazz are. they have lost their identity. AND as of TODAY the utah jazz, with the help from jimmer fredette, have made me a sacremento kings fan!

    GO KINGS, GO JIMMERS

Good things will happen for the Jimmer! He's a rock star. Watching the King fans mob him was exciting. He will come through for them. The immaturity of some Jazz fans would have been over the top had he been drafted here as demonstrated by their boos when his name was called by Sacramento.

Time will tell. I think Jimmer will do an outstanding job, and the Jazz will regret not trying to work out a deal for him.

I wonder if T.J. will move to Sacramento with him. He's certainly been an important part of Jimmer's continuing success.

    @ vegassports,

Las Vegas can't support a pro basketball team, unless they can get the NBA to not schedule home Sunday games like the Jazz have done.

Would be interesting to have the Kings there, though. Anaheim would be okay, too. Still, Sacramento deserves to keep the team.

    Hedgie,

"This is the biggest crock I've ever heard. Although jimer is simply the puppet the BYU/LDS/dnews media has sqeezed ever drop out of the sponge...and then some."

What? So BYU and DN go all over the country getting all the other networks and ESPN to cover Jimmer? Do they hold secret meetings where they auction off coverage rights, and tell them what to say in their stories? Do they control what is said in NY, Michigan and LA? I had no ideas BYU and DN were part of the Hegemony!

Or is it because all you do is read the DN?

Give it a rest! He is more talented than you think. He is more respected than you know. He was picked 10th regardless of your personal feelings, and he has a bright future in front of him. Guess what he doesn't care if the mighty HedgeHog likes him or not

If you don't want to hear anything more about him don't watch the news, anywhere. Don't read the DN and, this goes without saying, stop commenting on the BYU articles.

Jimmer's career will mirror that of Steve Alford's. He was a highly touted point guard, All American drafted by the Mavs, expected to save the franchise and be the next "Great White Hope." Didn't quite happen. I like Jimmer, I just don't foresee a great career for him. I hope Y fans will still appreciate him afterwards. My guess is that Y fans will always love and appreciate Jimmer, they have lengthy experience with their collegiate greats finding humility in the pro ranks (see also professional careers of Ty Detmer Heisman Winner, Luke Staley Doak Walker Winner, and their last NBA lottery pick, Rafa).

This is the way it going to be. There are 5+ articles about the draft on this site. The article with the most post (interest) is the article about Jimmer. The Jazz are just stupid. They had their chance and now the Kings will benefit. The Kings will have a better record and more fans than the Jazz this year. It's going to be fun watching Ferdette drop 30 on Harris. He'd do a crossover and Harris will break an ankle. KOC YOU ....

I hate to break the news to you, but neither Jimmer nor BYU control the media or the publicity. The media covers what the fans want to see, and the stories that keep eyes on the tube. And for two people who claim you're not Jimmer fans, you've made more comments about him than anyone else I know. Thanks for helping his publicity.

He's the hottest story to come out of college basketball in a long time, because he's a scorer and a winner - not because of any publicity stunt.

Jimmer is in a good situation at Sacto. I predict the kid will soon make fans of his detractors and doubters. I also predict that Rick Reilly of ESPN will be making good on his bet that Fredette will never start a single game in the NBA. He deserves to lose the money after doing a hatchet job on Fredette after watching him a single time in his life.

It was nice to hear that O'Connor had Jimmer in his top 10 on the Jazz draft board. That's where I thought he should have been all year long. I was hoping the Jazz would trade up to get Jimmer, but I don't blame them for not doing so because the No. 10 draft pick historically has not been a very sure thing. And you must give up something of value to get something of value, which Fredette surely is.

The Jazz had to be thrilled Sacramento drafted Jimmer, that took away the fan pressure, they knew they didn't want him, but the backlash would have been crazy. This is why most sports fans dislike BYU, they occasionally have a great player or a small bit of success, then they get all pompous and promote any success as if it was the best thing ever with huge amounts of overbearance. He barely makes lottery in one of the worst drafts in decades is the truth of the story. Andrew Bogut, Keith Van Horn, and Andre Miller all were picked higher than Jimmer, and together all three of them did not pull a publicity stunt like BYU has. Glen Falls, pretty funny your prince is now at the one NBA team that is the farthest from you. Finally, the only team in the NBA that does not play defense, its a great fit, even if the organization is in shambles and exists in the smallest tv market. Goodbye Jimmer, glad your out of Utah, the circus was ridiculous.

Pathetic to be drafted 10th overall in the NBA???

Under the terms of the NBA's rookie salary scale, the 10th pick in this year's draft will be guaranteed about $3.5 million over two seasons, and he could make as much as $11.3 million over five seasons.

The Kings are a poorly managed NBA team. They trade away any and all players worth anything at any time for the $ during the season. They are currently trying to leave Sacramento for Orange County in the LA area. They are in debt to the tune of 74 million to the city of Sacramento, and 70 million to the NBA. They have not had a winning season in over 4 years. This is a very bad situation for Fredette. He needs to make sure his check does not bounce. The Kings are the bottom feeders of the west. They have less than 40 wins in the past 2 seasons and less than 65 for the past 3 seasons. Very sad to see such a great player go to such a poor team.

No doubt if Jimmer had been available at 12, the Jazz would have selected him. As it was, they apparently couldn't get a trade up from 12th. Couldn't offer enough.

Too bad. Hopefully, whatever else they have up their sleeves will work to improve the team, because as it sits, it's not very good---too young and inexperienced.

Maybe not the most glamorous pick for Jimmer but (other than Phoenix) it may be the best move for his career early on. Low pressure, good system for his skills and more money with a higher pick than generally anticipated. It was interesting to see the three PGs go 8,9 and 10. If they move to LA he could make lots of cash in endorsements. Not so much in Sac. I expect him to average 14 pts a game his rookie season and be second team all-rookie.

Dude, your lucky no one on this board knows were Bowling Green is... but I do. You don't want me to let everyone in on your dirty little secret.. do you?

    Congrats Jimmer!

    Your NBA dream is reality!

...and JT is the best sports agent on the planet; one for one in players selected in the Top 10 of the NBA draft!

Kings are a terrible organization, too bad. What a joke, the Jazz had their chance and they chose to pass on Jimmer. Haven't bought a Jazz ticket since Jerry left, Jimmer would have made me buy season tickets. I won't buy a ticket to watch KOC's latest creation. I'll follow the Jimmer instead.

Hedgie....the Jazz don't even know where Ann Arbor is... let alone where your home is on the edge of the Great Black Swamp...and I don't think they really care that you're the only fan they have up there.

I thought Sacramento folded the franchise a few years ago for little to no fan support? in California it's all about the Lakers.

Will the jimer be able to deal with a fanbase and media that could care less?

Hedgie, if that all it would take for your to leave I am even more ticked we did not get the Jimmer.

The good news I am still a jazz fan because the didn't screw it up. But get ready he is going to drop 40 on us every night we play the kings.

If H-hog is a Jazz fan, then I've been cheering for the wrong team for 20 years. That makes me want to be Kings fan more than them drafting Jimmer.

    H-hog:

I have a feeeeeeling you will be sneaking a lot of peeks at Sacramento games - deep down inside you are a Jimmer fan. Oh, and do I dare say you have been proven wrong once again on this one. 10th overall first round pick. You and Chris B are weeping in your corn flakes.

My guess Jimmer will be starting again in the fall. What say you??

Thank goodness he's ending up in Sacramento! I think he would have been "stifled" in Utah......under a microscope.. and you just know the immature BYU-Utah bickering would just get worse with him around, especially during the inevitable early struggles to adapt.
