HMMM! So a senior digs deep and pitches on no days rest to lead his team to a state championship. What a concept! Maybe other kids, parents, and coaches could learn from this. It takes guts, desire and sacrifice sometimes to put your team in a position to win big games like this kid did. Regardless if he plays for Spanish Fork or not, he did what 99% of the pitchers in high school won't do and that's sacrifice himself on the mound for a team goal. They should put up another baseball billboard in Spanish Fork with this kid's picture on it, and then they could come put up the same billboard in Salt Lake along I-15, I-215, I-80, State Street, Redwood Road etc. Maybe that will motivate SOME of our kids, coaches, and parents here in Salt Lake to dig a bit deeper, compete, and not be scared of a little sacrifice when so much is on the line. You know actually "Go All In" in real life and not just put sayings like that on a t-shirt they wear. Love 'em or hate 'em hats off to Spanish Fork.
Congrats to the Dons (and their softball team too) for winning two games to take state. This shows a lot of grit and determination. 3-A baseball is going to be real tough as these two juggernaut teams head to the smaller classification. Add in Juan Diego and a solid Canyon View program and Dixie, who has had success in 4-A in recent years coming back down to 3-A, plus add in solid programs like Carbon, Bear River, Desert Hills, and Cedar, and 3-A has really surpassed 4-A baseball in quality.
Congrats to the Dons, and the toughness they showed to come back and win after overlooking a solid Snow Canyon team. Maybe you just lost so someone would think your not that solid.
Just wanted to say congrats,
But also, Bingahm is the best team in the state in baseball in 2011
27-3, 25-1 in utah, and Oh they did beat Spanish Fork, Rest my case.
What a great day to be a bingham miner!
Wasn't really doubt really..Congratulations to SF and their 3rd consecutive State Championship. I am very proud of this team and their tremendous athletes.
This Don team will be loaded for many years to come and don't be surprised if they repeat next year. A result of a tremendous little league and accelerated programs locally. Not too mention the dedication of coaches, parents, students and fans. Win this team wins, the entire town wins.
You look at the statistics of this team after the 7-2 loss to Snow Canyon and they are amazing. The Don's lost focus for just over an inning and lost a game they were in control of. Snow Canyon should be proud of their run but they taught a great team how to lose which resulted in SC being on the receiving end of an offensive powerhouse.
The individual offensive and pitching accolades are deserving but this was an absolute well put together TEAM. Congratulations again athletes!
Spanish Fork is a poster child for how to build a championship baseball program. It starts at the lowest level of baseball and works its way all the way up to the high school varsity. The community is behind it, the parents are behind it, the administration is behind it, the coaches are quality and the kids buy into it. It is devilishly frustrating to compete with that kind of program. Congratulations to SF for a job well done. Maybe someday our community, parents, administration, coaches and players will see the light.
