I must take my hat off to the Bingham Miners. I didn't think you could pull it off but you did. One of the best state tournament performances in many years. Tough to name your best player for they all played well when it counted. I will say this and mean it, you had probably the best pitching staff for the past couple of years. But you won't repeat for you lost too many starters. Next year, Jordan will be the best with American Fork right behind them. Anyway, congratulations and I take my hat off to you.

Region 4 was real strong this year and the new region four bringing Lone Peak, AF, Bingham, Riverton, Copper Hills together with respectable programs like PG and Lehi, should be a lot of un in baseball. Bingham delivered on the good and congrats to them. Region 4 should its overall strength finishing in positions 2-4 but Region 3 got a champ with Bingham.

and Region 3 champ, Beat, LP, AF, and Jordan. so there to all you people in love with region 4!
Watchful eye good to see you comment, and of course you have to already bring up next year for your Jordan Boys, but remember, Bingham loses Mason and Cantwell on the mound, but also will have the best Pitcher in 5A in Brady Lail who struck out 13 of your Jordan All Americans.
Great year for the Miners, and 20 state titles in baseball next closest is Tvile with 9, I say that is a solid baseball program if I might.

Love to see the Miners on top. This is a great program with great coaches and great kids. Wow! What a year. Thanks to Coach Sato for all his years of service and dedication. Way to go!!!

One would have to admit that with Anderson, Shaver, Gomez, and others returning, we should be pretty darn good next year. We gained much experience this season and it will pay off next time around. With the new kids that are coming in, the state title is certainly within reach and with the best head coach in the state, we will really be in the hunt next season. Look how well we did this year with such a young team.

watchfuleye, you must feel that your Beatdiggers have had another great collegiate-like recruiting year by putting them ahead of a team like AF, who barely loses anyone from a 2nd place team. We'll see how it goes in 9 months I guess....what will we all do in the mean time? I wish next season started tomorrow. Great job Bingham on an excellent season. You showed why you are the best baseball program in the state. AF also had an incredible year by sweeping Lone Peak and Brighton at seasons end to win its 1st region title in 15 yrs. Also a well-coached and talented team that should be the team to beat next season. Although it will be a dog fight in Region 4 just to make the state tourney.

I don't see the crime of saying Bingham was the best team and Region 4 was the best region. I don't think that can really be disputed...

I remember reading a comment about how the American Fork team 'surprised' a lot of people by getting into the quarter-finals; I can't remember if the word used was "underdog," or whatever, but from what I watched in this tournament, terms like that are the last ones I'd use to describe AF. They definitely have talent; after clawing their way all the way to the championship game, they showed they're a program to be reckoned with. I was NOT enjoying seeing them get four runs ahead of Bingham in the championship game. I'm glad Bingham didn't take them for granted, either. Hats off, AF, for making the game one the Bingham guys had to work for. A victory is always sweeter when won against a worthy opponent. We'll look to see you there next year.

Way to go Bingham and Spanish Fork. You were the best all year and showed why. I agree with respect all....wish next year was here tomorrow. Great job and thanks to all that posted on the wall... made the year fun. See ya all oh and did I tell you...I LOVE BASEBALL.

The best head coach in the state? Coach Anderson from Jordan? your not serious are you watchfuleye?

He came into coaching with the best Jordan baseball team to ever play there, and won it only one year with them guys, not 2, and with oregon state shortstop, standford catcher, arkansas pitcher, dixie state pitcher and 2nd base, of course it makes the coach look great, but to say he is the best coach in the state, is just a lie.
Obviously, they get all the kids who want to play as freshman and dont want to wait at bingham, or alta, or riverton, I mean your freshman pitcher who lives down the street from me on 10600 and bangeter got told by anderson he would play as a freshman when sato and rand said you wont pitch right now as a freshman, look at the staff, so he goes, and wont be able to play next year because his grades are horrible. Good luck to jordan, but Region 4 next year will be a fun one for sure.

Congrats Bingham on a fine season.

Correction "Eagle" on next year's regions.
Copper Hills is in region 3 with Cottonwood, West Jordan, Jordan, Brighton & Alta. Region 4 is Bingham, Lone Peak, AF, Lehi, PG & Riverton.

Region 4 will be a great region and so will Region 3 in baseball...

Are you really so bitter to slander a freshmen? Especially when you are just making stuff up? Anonymity makes it even worse. You obviously know nothing about that Freshman and even less about the situation.

Are you serious? How discouraging for our children to play high school sports when their every move is being monitored by other parents! If you are a parent of a high school athlete or a child in general and you participate in the SLANDER of another child, SHAME ON YOU! Regardless where this "Freshman Pitcher" lives or what school he plays for, it is not your right or any other parents right to try to call him out. The state has a board to govern high school sports and the athletes; the last time I looked I did not see Binghamalum as one of the board members. These kids that play for Bingham, Jordan, Taylorsville, Copper Hills, all the schools, they are trying to gain experience, learn, become good teammate and citizens, to make a memory in high school, just like all of us parents did when we were in high school. If we take it upon ourselves to slander or degrade children on comment pages, what are we taking high school sports too?? What are we teaching our own children to do??

sayitisntso

?? It is not any ones decision where my child goes to school except my child and I's and I would be offended if someone was to step in and say any differently, that is the great thing about the freedoms we each have in this Country! Open boundaries has given student athletes more of an option now than ever before. Regardless if they chose one school over another because they will get playing time or because their best buddies that they have played ball with for the last years are going to a certain school and they want to play alongside these buddies. It is their given right. So if Jordan High's coach wants to play a freshman, GOOD FOR YOU! I heard it said in more than a few conversations that this is a "rebuilding year for Jordan High baseball" WOW!! If being a rebuilding year get you to 3rd in your region GREAT JOB!

sayitisntso

Coach Anderson, hats off to you for using the talent you have, regardless if that talent is senior, junior, sophomore or FRESHMAN!! You made the right choices for your team in given situations and in the long run gave these kids additional opportunities not afford to them by other programs. Coach Anderson must not only talk the talk to these athletes and their parents, he must walk the walk! Maybe a lot more parents should consider having their athlete play for a quality coach as Coach Anderson! I think that the only people that should be governing this freshman athlete or any other athlete is the UHSSA, Jordan AD, Coach Anderson, the athlete and his parents. You never know when YOUR student athlete will be living in a glass house! Congratulations to Bingham High on a great year! You played in the biggest game of your high school career and walked away victorious, only to have bitter comments from one alum overshadow your win!

And actually, maybe after looking back you havent discouraged this Freshman Pitcher but only made him realize that you are not looking forward to facing him as he grows and learns and becomes better in the Jordan program.

*3rd in state and region
