Drunk Driving.

Yet another crime our nation refuses to take seriously.

Unlike half the people in prison, habitual drunk drivers are a legitimate threat to society. Yet they get off with a slap on the wrist most of the time.

The drunk driving problem could be solved quite simply... with mandatory jail sentences.

1st conviction: Mandatory 30 day dryout in the county lockup.
2nd conviction: Mandatory 1 year prison sentence.
3rd conviction: Life.
Cause a wreck that kills someone: Automatic life sentence.

I have a feeling most drunk drivers wouldn't get through step 1 and never do it again. You take people's freedom away and they will reform real quick.
