Congratulations to Mtn Crest on beating Dixie and going to the finals.

Also would like to recognize Dixie for their success. They are the only
semi-final team this year in 4A that was also in the semifinals last year.
They weren't even ranked or on the radar all year long by Des News. I think
this is an extension from club as well. Many of Desert Hills and Dixie players play on the Fire FC Premier U17 team. They lost this last year in State Cup in the semi-finals to Sparta in overtime 2-1. They were literal minutes away from going to the Finals against La Rocca. Going in to State Cup they were seeded LAST of all the times. Quite an accomplishment.

Soccer in southern Utah is getting better every year. We will probably never catch up to the North because of the population disparity. But the gap is definitely becoming thinner.

Dixie returns to 3A next year as well as Snow Canyon and Pine View. It should make region 9 3A really competitive. Who knows the 3A state championships may soon be played in St. George.

Next years region 9 3A predictions:
1. Dixie (strongest team yet-very cohesive-strong in back and middle)
2. Hurricane (much improved-Landon Fisher may be best player in state)
3. Snow Canyon (rebuilding and will make post season)
4. Deseret Hills (coach Fielding stepped down, lost MVP Palmer. Reloading)
5. Cedar City (very defensive-great midfield in Tobias, needs offense)
6. Pine View (rebuilding still since Riley Diaz and Des Hills split)
7. Canyon View (moments of brilliance-needs more consistency)

GOOD LUCK IN FINALS MTN CREST!

Dixie is a class act team who is well coached. They played a good game and it was not a fluke that they were in the Semi-Finals. Best of luck to them in the future.
