Great games today;
5A
Roy over Riverton
Murray over Taylorville best game of the day, hittng vs. speed
Weber over Davis
Syracuse over Skyline
West Jordan over Bingham
Brighton over Layton
of the 12 remaining teams: Region 1, 5 teams, Region 3, 4 teams, Region 2, 2 teams, and Region 4, 1 team left. not sure what point im making. guess Region 1 and 3 seem to have the depth.
good luck to all and stop the rain!!!
In 5A softball..... 5 of the 12 teams left in the state tournament are from Region 1. Roy should have no problem putting Riverton in the loser's bracket tomorrow. Two Region 1 teams will be knocked out tomorrow- by other Region 1 teams. Too bad that has to happen.
Region 3 also looks strong with 4 teams still in it. They will also be down to 3 after Bingham and West Jordan play tomorrow.
Region 2 will be down to one team after tomorrow. Murray looks legit, but the rest of the region is showing the lack of depth in that region.
Region 4 is showing how weak it was. Only 1 win out of 8 tournament games played. The only team to win a game and the only team left is Brighton who barely squeaked by the #4 team from Region 1 in extra innings on Saturday. They could be sent home for the season tomorrow by the #5 team from Region 1 if Layton plays like they are capable of playing.
Following the same line of thought in 4A.
Region 5 has 3 teams left (2 have yet to suffer a loss), I think this region has been somewhat underrated this year
Region 6 has 1 team left, Bountiful and Stanbury were highly regarded much of the year but based on results were overrated, Tooele still championship contender
Region 7 has 3 teams left all in one loss bracket, good showing for slightly underrated region
Region 8 has 3 teams left, deepest region in 4A, SF may show to be best team
Region 9 got 1 in and 1 still left, Snow Canyon is a solid 4A team amoung the combo region
I still think SF vs Tooele, with the Dons winning
