Duh! Most of us who play 3A already have been saying this all year. If you aren't Juan Diego (or a St. George school) this will be your last chance for that title for some time. Too bad too, Wasatch will have a great senior group back next year and possibly some new coaching to go along with that hopefully! (fingers crossed)
Cry me a river the same thing is happening with Richfield, Manti, and Emery coming down to 2A.
While the competition will be stiffer in both 3A and 2A next year I hardly think it's nearly as big of a deal as this article makes it to be. Better competition is good for athletics. Anyone upset because they have a few less easy games on their schedule probably wasn't a top team in their classification to begin with.
What is the matter with the current Wasatch coaching staff? From what I've heard from friends this year, there are some pretty crazy parents up there.
@wasp, it's not the whole staff by any means, it's a head coach who has lost control and respect and one assistant with anger management problems (two suspensions in two weeks) If I had a son on that team I would hope for change as well, verbal abuse from a coach should never be allowed.
What "verbal abuse" are you referring to???
well, although I've only been to a few of their games this year, I have close ties to the Heber Valley and Wasatch High School. On the few occasions I've attended, I have noticed alot of yelling coming from the Wasatch side, mostly from one guy. I attend a lot of athletic events throughout the state, both professional and amateur, and rarely encounter a "coach" who treats his/her players the way this one individual does. I have spoken with people who have sons on the team both present and past and they do not like it, but say that when they have brought it up with the administration it gets swept under the rug. He was finally disciplined over the last couple of weeks in an attempt to calm the "crazy parents" as you called them. I think if someone treated my son that way I might get a little "crazy" myself. I'm not sure what is worse, the assistant who acts this way, or the Head coach who allows it to happen.
so maybe it's the, Accusing, blaming, criticizing, judging, trivializing, undermining, threatening, or name calling, that makes me think verbal abuse?
Wasp go ahead and give administration a call I am sure they can give you the info you desire the words coming out of their mouths wouldn't be tolreated on this website or in your local Bar. The Coachs can't control the parents because of the way they operate, they make the decision to let them be involved which results in some type of decision making on the parents part. The head coach has already said he was done after this season the the Assistant will more than likely be done because nobody really wants him there anyway. So hope for the best for Wasatch a new staff is what is needed.
