"Who was hurt, and who was helped?"
Whenever there is on of these contentious political fights, there's always some debate as to who was the 'winner'. Unfortunately, finding the loser is not difficult. It is the taxpayer. According to John Florez's column from yesterday, holding this special session cost us an extra $30,000 dollars. I know that $30,000 is such a small portion of the budget that it probably shouldn't be worried about, but my point is just that it seems like the fewer days our State Legislature is in session, the less damage they can do. Until we get robust dialogue in the State House and Senate, most of their work will continue to focus on completely ignoring the public interest, and symbolic power grabs.
