It's amazing how fast things changed for RSL. We were the joke of MLS. Then somehow RSL made the playoffs in 09 and peaked at the right time to become MLS champions. Then we became a regular season powerhouse, to concacaf group stage winners, and now concacaf finalist. If you would have asked me if I thought any of this would happen 3 years ago I would have said no.
We all stayed behind this team and now we get to enjoy the good times. Welcome everyone who is just now jumping on board but I think those of us that have been behind RSL this whole time are enjoying life a little bit more than the rest right now.
Those RSL soccer fans that are educated in the sport and recognize the big accomplishments of RSL right now (relative CONCAF stuff and 2011 MLS record as well). This success would be worth the wait all the more if more fans could be generated into the mix (more community emotion with more fans).
The local media does not promote this team enough. They justify a lack of interest when there is fence line interest waiting for someone to validate their leery interest. I say leery because to many people in this area are used to jumping aboard a wagon that has the support of their neighbors in the ward so to speak.
