This is going to be an exciting year for BYU football. We're renewing our season tickets this week. Can't wait until September.

Go Cougars!

Murray, UT

Exciting times are ahead indeed... first year as an independent, a new OC in Doman and plenty of talent on both sides of the ball. It should be a fun season, looking forward to September.

I'm very excited for this season. I have no doubt that this will be a special year, and the Cougs will be much improved over last year. Even with more experience than last year, we are still a young team. I can see us becoming even better in our 2012 campaign. Legitimate Top 25 this year, and Top 10 next year. With a few breaks, who knows . . .

This may be the best group of WR's to ever suit up in BYU blue. RB's should be solid. We saw Heaps come into his own at that end of last season. Nelson looks like a solid backup, but I'd still throw him into the mix 4 or 5 times a game for a little trickery or wildcat formation (not a 2 QB controversy, Heaps is the guy). It sounds like TE's are developing, but I'll reserve judgement until I see the production from them.

Front seven on D may be the best overall front seven to suit up for BYU. It sounds like the DB's are better than expected for such a young group, but again I'll withold judgement until I see them perform.

With Idaho State, Idaho, San Jose State, and New Mexico State on the home schedule I'm sure whatever you have to pay for those tickets will be well worth the price.

Should be some thrilling games... exciting times.

I like the Cougars in independence. Let's face it, they outgrew the MWC and will benefit from this move. I posted before, this is probably the best era in history (excitement-wise across the board) for the state of Utah as far as collegiate athletics is concerned. I am cheering for my Utes to do well in their new conference. I am cheering for the Cougars to take off with independence. And I am cheering for Gary Anderson to build Utah State up. Man! I wish football started next Saturday!

Last year was so bad I really didn't follow, did Heaps beat a team with a winning record? Just curious!

South Jordan, UT

We just renewed our tickets and are excited for this new season of independence. We love our BYU Cougars and will be there supporting and cheering for them all the way!

Go Cougars!

Re Howard S: We can now see all of the games, either on ESPN or one of its affiliates. Under the MTN, that was not possible. Do you not think the Utah game will be exciting? First home game, and BYU wanting payback! You and your ilk, rife with negativity, are laughable. BYU and its fans will be just fine and will enjoy the exciting ride in a brand new situation called "independence".

Provo, UT

@bigutefan "Last year was so bad I really didn't follow..."

Wow, so you've followed BYU sports in the past, including a little bit last year? As a "big Ute fan" I'm suprised you'd admit that. But here you are, on a BYU article posting. Thanks, we appreciate the support :)

BTW, SDSU was a pretty good team with a winning record...just to answer your question. Go Cougars!

Lehi, UT

As a BYU fan I'm happy with "really good" and I don't need them to be "great". 9-3 with a bowl win is a fine football season. I understand that the unique situation with the honor code and religious element at BYU limits their recruting potential. BYU has exceeded my expectations most years. Go Cougars!

Provo, UT

UTE Fans,

How did Jordan Wynn fare the last time he visited Provo. ? Pendelton has a Big Smile on his face right now. He is licking his chops.

If I were a BYU fan I'd be livid at this schedule having to watch pansies as an opponent in Provo other than Utah and UCF........

Salt Lake City, UT

Bought my season tickets yesterday!!!! Kids get to use them. Tomorrow I go into the MTC with my Eternal Companion again!!! I wish the Cougars well. I will miss being there but since so many have served missions I have a pretty good idea that a lot of them would like to be with us too. I have watched thirty years of glorius Cougar football. I have seen good men become better. Sharing the Gospel the Gospel of Jesus Christ is better. No one loses. See you all in 18 months.

BYU will have a winning record throughout the whole season. I doubt that your team will but good luck with that buddy!

Hayden, ID

Four MWC teams played in bowl games last season but only one of them lost their bowl game, guess who?

Iowa City, IA

This is going to be fun! I agree with the article, BYU is loaded with talent. Can't wait to see how it comes together.

A very exciting year for the Cougars! I cannot wait to watch them on TV finally and I am glad The Mountain network is history.

Look around at the vaulted BCS schools and even the Utes. Everyone has someone on their schedule that isn't a great team.

@Honor Code

If I was Ram or Buff fan I'd be cryin' 'momma' as both Utah and BYU ride into the sunset as you're eatin' their dust.

Season looks like a cakewalk. Every game will be important since we have no conference title to play for. We can only win a NC. With such a weak schedule we can only hope for a BCS bowl if we are the only undefeated non-BCS team. I like our chances after watching the growth that the team has shown. Only Texas and TCU have a legit shot at blowing our season, the others need a minor miracle to even make the games close. So here's to a great season of armchair quarterbacking, trolling and outright ridiculousness from fanatics and just plain "got nothing better to do" folks along the Wasatch Range. Good luck to all.
