From what I have read from Monterrey fans it seems as if they tend to be a team that fills up with day-of-walk ups rather than season tickets or pre-sales.

"It feels like a classic stadium, it's got some neat features to it. Obviously, it would be better if it didn't have a track around it, but maybe that will help us keep the fans a little farther away," said Johnson
+1 to that comment. The fans in mexico can be pretty inhumane to opposing teams.

This week has felt like the Super Bowl for me. I cannot wait for tomorrow, in what is going to be one of the biggest games in RSL history!

I am excited for the team. Not only the exposure but the opportunity to showcase the teams from the U.S. Soccer in Mexico is crazy and sometimes the fans try to act like English Houligans simply for attention. I was in Mexico during the World Cup in 1986. It was bigger than the Olympics and a lot less civil. Good luck REAL.

I've been thinking about this game all day. Can't seem to focus on anything else. I'm really excited to see if we can pull it off.

I've been a soccer fan since our elementary school janitor who was from Denmark taught us to play on the play ground. This is the biggest thing I have seen happen ever in US soccer and that includes when Pele came to play in New York in the 70's. I'm hoping for RSL to at least win the region and make it to the World Cup. That will prove to the world how far US professional soccer has come. Go RSL!!

I don't know if it's the biggest thing in Amerian soccer history. DC United won the concacaf champions cup in 98 and The LA Galaxy won it in 2000. The only difference is that now the winner goes to the fifa club world cup. That would be huge for exposure of the MLS and RSL.

But the biggest in the history of soccer in this country? I don't agree.

The german world cup when team USA beat mexico and advanced to the Quarterfinals was the biggest deal in US soccer history IMO.

I would say that this is the biggest game in club soccer history in the US. While it is true that DC United and the LA Galaxy both won a similar tournament in the early years of MLS the tournament was much different.

The 1998 CONCACAF Champions Cup was played August 11-16, 1998 in Washington, DC. DC United won 3 games to win the 8-team tournament. They beat two teams from Mexico.

The 2000 CONCACAF Champions Cup was played January 16-21, 2001 in Los Angeles. The LA Galaxy won 3 games to win the 8-team tournament. They didn't have to face a team from Mexico.

As soon as someone says "this is a huge game and RSL would be the first team to do something like this for American soccer" there is an immediate post saying "What about DC and LA?". We appreciate what DC and LA did in paving the way in the early days of MLS and I give them full repect for what they did, but this is a much different tournament. DC and LA didn't have to play 12 games spread out over several months, play all of those games while trying to keep up in the league, play quarterfinal matchups while trying to get team cohesion, nor did they have to play those teams home and away. At the end of the tournament they didn't have a club world cup to play for either (LA thought they did) so what was the point for those teams to play their best? This is a much tougher tournament that no MLS team had even made it past the quarters before. RSL is breaking new ground and doing something special that NO MLS team has done before. Go RSL!

RSL is ready. It should be a great match.
