Spring break is over time to find out how good these teams are. Weber at Viewmont tomorrow should be a good measuring stick for both these teams. The rankings look pretty right on to me.
Thoughts on 2A Rankings:
1- S. Summit: Still team to beat.
2- RH: Good team, but, thanks to a tough non-region schedule, still think it's funny to have #2 with a losing record (1-4).
3- Millard: Tough game at Grand this week. Averaging almost 6 goals a game thanks to the leading scorer in the state, Pancho, and 3 of the top 4 in 2A. Interesting side note-Also play N. Sevier who is the only team not to allow Pancho to score.
4- Waterford: All wins have come against opponents with losing records. Against ranked teams are 0-3 while losing by a combined score of 12-0, ouch. Can rectify that this week against Grand.
5- Grand: Statement week for the Red Devils if they can beat both Millard and Waterford. But, better not lose sight of Beaver in between their big games or the Beavers might just do what the Rams did to them 2 weeks ago. They do have the benefit of all games being at home.
Good luck to all the teams.
hurricane tied number 1 raked desert hills in 3A last night in double OT they should be ranked they have a very good team and have proved they can compete.
Judging by the celebration at the end of regulation, Hurricane played for the tie and not to win so brag all you want but you didn't even try to win. DH had way more shots on goal - your keeper kept you in the game.
When is Davis going to play some games? They keep postponing while others are playing.
Region 18 is hard to figure. They did well in preseason but now they keep beating up on each other in region. both Liahona and Wasatch Academy play South Summit next week so that will tell us the level of play they have. As of right now I think the top 3 are still So. Summit, Rowland Hall and Millard. Hard to say who fits where in the top 3. Then the next 2 would likely be either 2 teams from region 18 or 1 from region 18 and Grand. This week will tell. Im enjoying the fact that there are a handful of teams that could win state this year in 2A.
yeah celebration because desert hills is ranked 1 in the state in 3A and hurricane isnt even ranked? giving desert hills their first thing other than a win of course they are going to celebrate. why would a team go out not to win that is pointless of course they wanted to win. the wind was agianst them the whole game to when they were supposed to go with it it changed directions pretty unlucky and the refing was horrible if they meet up again which would be in the state finals i put my money on hurricane for a win.
Clyde,
I agree. Region 18 has me scratching my head. Wendover was looking really good, then as soon as they start region they get shutout by Wasatch Acadamy and St. Joseph. Then there's St. Joseph who, thanks to a tough preseason schedule, limps into region play with a 1-5 record and now leads the region. All the teams in that region look pretty even. It will be fun to see how that region fairs against S. Summit.
Can't wait to see how the next couple weeks play out.
Perhaps Davis has not played any games because they really have no players, no coach, no field, no team, no equipment, no uniforms, no cleats, no school, no city, no silver wolves, no desire to play a single game, Kaysville is to small of a town to put enough kids on a soccer field, Wow the reasons are seemingly endless. Hey Fremont west heaven dude, you have uncovered a huge conspiratorial agenda.
Rumor has it that Davis lost to Northridge but I keep checking here for confirmation....
Wasatch is the team to beat in 3a
Region 14 is the best 2a region.
Watched the Alta vs Brighton game. Wasn't really impressed by either team. Weber had a good game.
someone is going to beat south summit in the month of april. they have to lose. waterford, wasatch, wendover, whoever.
@Hapa
Thanks for the educated update.
I happen to be a Davis fan who would like to see some games. But since you know so much, tell me why the Northridge game didn't happen the other day.
@sunshiner So, Hurricane didn't even play to win, they played to tie and achieved that? Based upon your logic, it's a good thing they didn't play to win (assuming you are a DH fan), they probably would have!
Well, so much for Grands "statement" week. Lost in OT to Millard, had to come back and beat the Beavers, and shutout by Waterford (all at home).
Here are my new top 5 for 2A:
1-S. Summit: Stays up top until someone proves otherwise.
2-Millard: Have week off.
3-Rowland Hall: Big game with Waterford this week.
4-Waterford: Was good to see them beat a team with a winning record. Can't wait to see what happens against RH this week.
5-St. Joseph: After tough preseason schedule are handling region pretty well.
Re So Utah fan,Sunshiner,So Utah soccer is not at the level of soccer up north, just plain fact,DH usually sweeps a very weak Reg 9 then gets knocked off at home by a lower level team from up north, over rated is being kind, look for the same result this year.
I saw two former Highland Rams that are seniors played in the RSL Colorado Rapids reserve game on thursday. Phanuel Kavita started for RSL and James Rogers subbed in for Colorado in the second half. Highland is doing ok but I can only imagine how they would dominate if they were playing their senior seasons for the Rams.
Davis lost in a big upset.
southern utah teams WILL compete with the northern utah teams this year i know that for a fact dont be suprised if desert hills, hurricane,or delta end up high in the state tourney even the state championship.
