A bit odd to retire the number, but Kreis deserves the accolades.
European soccer has more history/tradition, but retiring #s is a good US tradition. I'm all for it...
I liked the idea I read on the bigsoccer message board that RSL ought to retire a really cool necktie in honor of Kreis's achievements as a coach. Kreis had an outstanding MLS career as a player for FCDallas. His achievements as a player for RSL over his 2+ seasons with RSL don't justify retiring his jersey number for RSL. To retire a jersey for a coach's achievements seems out-of-place to me, even if it were basketball or football. A coach doesn't usually wear a jersey while he coaches.
