As an educator I see that many of our students have no internalized concept of right and wrong. They do not have a developed conscience. Why? Is it because of what they see on TV with the shows they watch? Is it because their parents don't set proper examples? Is it because our schools don't teach the concepts? All of the above? I think all of the above. We have met the enemy and.......yes, us.

So how and what does education intend to do about this 40 year old habit?

This system of lies and deceit is so ingrained in education that its going to take a couple of generations of honest teachers and board member's to turn it around. The only way to get federal funding for schools is to lie and cheat and steal and that is the true measure of the Utah education system. Schools don't want to know the truth so they put themselves in denial and say 'what we don't know can't hurt us' and they can deny every contradictory report that comes along. Utah's education system will lie and deny anything that will conflict with getting federal funding. Utah is so dependent on federal funds and lying to get it that the truth would bankrupt Utah should it ever be established.

Utah education lies about illegals being in our schools so they can get federal funds. Illegal aliens in Utah has created several generations of Utah citizens that really do believe that illegal aliens have the same rights as all american citizens.

@ My2Cents: Utah education lies about federal funding so that we can get Illegal aliens? By federal and state law Utah schools are required to accept any who provides proof of residence in their boundaries. By state and federal law. The entire state, like every state in the Union, is dependent on federal funds. If a person is retired or on disability they are dependent on federal funds. Please tell me an area in which a person is not dependent on some type of funding and I can probably show you sir where you are mistaken. My point here is that all of us are, in some form or fashion, dependent on the federal government. Rather than point fingers at one particular group let us all acknowledge that we have met the enemy and he is us.
