Sister Kristen Oaks is indeed a remarkable woman. Excellent article describing her ties to Japan.

Maybe ten years ago a friend of mine in Juneau met Sister Kristen Oaks and was very impressed with her. Apparently, a family trip to Southeast Alaska had been planned for the future and then Sister June Oaks had passed away; and my memory is hazy but I think what so deeply impressed my friend is the manner in which Sister Kristen Oaks selflessly and confidently joined and supported a trip to which there were strong memories of her predecessor attached. (And out in the parking lot of the stake center after services my friend and his brother were rewarded with a delightfully humorous story that Elder Oaks told about their late father).
