I think that next years roster sounds pretty good: Charles Abouo, Matt Carlino,
Chris Collinsworth, Brandon Davies, Noah Hartsock, Nick Martineau, Stephen
Rogers, Anson Winder, Brock Zylstra, DeMarcus Harrison, Ian Harward, and Nate
Austin. It will be interesting to see how Carlino and Harrison will work out,
but I think Martineau will be an adequate point guard. Their strength will be 3,
4, and 5. As I remember, C. Collinsworth was great, and if he can come back from
his knee surgery, he is going to be a creator down low, and Rogers can be a real
force as well. Go Cougs!
I am guessing that most of us are looking forward to BYU basketball next year,
especially after this great year. Anyone looking forward to watching the Utes
next year? Thought not.
It wasn't the refs. Every honest coach or player can see one or two or ten
things they could've done differently to win. You have to focus on what you can
control, and you can't control the refs. They more you try, the less you do...
I know hedgie is now going to be at a loss, no more cougar basketball to comment
on and for sure nothing on utes except Rose isn't going. You win some (BYU won
32) you loose some(the Y lost 5) hedgie lost 32 wait that is 33 no Rose garden
for her. I wouldn't say anything about the officiating but this
being the last game, Jimmer was mugged, knocked down and slapped, no fouls. The
other end touch them you are fouling, the gators crawl up your back ok. The
cougs could have shot better but still a great season. Thanks Jimmer,
Emery, Hartsock and all. You can be proud of your year and know that you are
@DuckhunterGREAT to be a Cougar?I suppose... if you are
satisfied with one sweet sixteen appearance every 30 years.
The best team won as is always the case. Jimmer was definitely not healthy
tonight, but he gave everyone a great year.
great run boys....alright, time for some football.
@NevadaCougDon't hold your breath. She doesn't have an explanation
she is just saying stuff. Like I said let them post because they look like fools
with each successive post. Think of it this way. These clowns watched every
single BYU basketball game this season. Rather than going to the hunstman
center, no one went there actually, they staid home and watched BYU games. In
otherwords they are bigger BYU fans than most of us who probably missed a game
or two along the way. This is the power and popularity of BYU.
Everyone in the state watches them every time they play.It is GREAT
to be a Cougar!
Hard to beat a good physical team and the refs too.Great run guys!
I think that the hater's relief is short-lived. Next year we'll have Carlino
(UCLA transfer), Harrison, and Davies, Rodgers, Hartsock and others back.
That's for Basketball. For football, you'll be lucky to go 6 and 6. Face it
Utes, without BYU you have no one to cheer for- ie whoever is playing BYU-
because the U is not worth cheering for. My evidence- empty arena, empty
message boards covering athletic events (firing your coach doesn't count as an
Amazing game.Amazing year.Next year, who will take the
900+ shots, taken this year, by two of the seniors? The 1981 team was
able to get to the Elite 8.It's too bad this group came up short.Oh well, there's always next year...
MESOUTE said:"40% for the Jimmer?No.11-29 is
not 40%, it is an awful 37% with 3-15 from 3s (20%)."But I had
previously said:"Fredette is hitting just shy of 40%"Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 39.3% just shy of 40%? 'Cause, you see, I
posted that when Jimmer was 11-28. Yes, then he missed another shot and made it
37.9%. Which is still better than the team average. So, what did I
say that was incorrect exactly? C'mon, you said it, now back it up. And
explain to me how we should get on Jimmer (who was playing the 2nd half with an
injured calf, I might add) when the rest of the team shot worse than he did?
When nobody else is hitting, should he stop shooting himself?C'mon,
I'm waiting for the explanation.*crickets*
We took florida to overtime in the sweet 16 without Davies and much depth or
size, unfortunately it finally caught up to BYU. Its too bad, but nonetheless a
great season, definately one to remember.
BYU is so undersized and underskilled, yet took us all on a sweet sixteen ride.
Can't ask for anymore than that.
Thanks for the great season Cougars. It was a joy to watch Jimmer, Jax, and
Logan this year.Utes you ready for Sept. I am RISE AND SHOUT THE
COUGARS ARE OUT
It was a great year. Lotsa fun and very entertaining. I look forward to more
great years and better things in the future with loads of great recruits coming
in and returning from missions. As far as wedgie, christina, howie
and the other ute "fans" are concerned it is hard to look any more
idiotic than to criticize a team that just lost in overtime in the sweet 16. Let
them post as it only exposes them. LOL
No shame losing here, theoretically the 1s and 2s should be the teams left after
this round. Great season BYU, see you in December or whenever we (Utes) have you
scheduled. Good luck in the WCC. Now I wonder where Jimmer will be drafted to
(gut says Jazz with that jersey pick).
Orem Parent: "Haters will hate but they wish they were us this
year."That's the truth right there!
Hey Coug Basketball team - thanks for the memories - unbelievable. Despite
losing the backcourt of Jimmer and Jackson, BYU Men's Hoops is in a great place
with terrific coaches and younger leadership to continue the tradition of
outstanding student-athetes. To both coaches and players - -thanks for leaving
it all out there in a classy way. To Chris B. and all the other haters - - at
least these guys are living their lives giving it all they had, while you are
living yours thru the highlights of being the star on the 7th grade team
byu has a great player in jimmer but the other players are sub poor players.Wait
until next year when jimmer is gone
Nice season, cougars. Too bad we didn't put them away.
Great season Cougs. Thanks to all the team. This season
and the hype will be hard to top.Sorry to see it end but it was a
fun ride.Haters will hate but they wish they were us this year.Go Cougs!
WE LOVE OUR TEAM!
Jimmer took too many shots, and the killer was the Tech. on Emery early in the
game Techs. are selfish and only hurt the team totally uncalled for if you don't
like the call tooo bad don't let it hurt your team! Great job BYU and thanks
for a great season unfortunately the Tech. was the factor!!!
Looks like the rest of the BYU team looked itimidated. Lack of real effort in
Much more ball movement from Florida, and therefore a better game. Congrats,
Sweet 16 and out. According to all the publicity, I thought the FINAL 4 was the
worst we could do. It ended like waiting for the football team to go to a BCS
NevadaCoug:40% for the Jimmer?No.11-29 is
not 40%, it is an awful 37% with 3-15 from 3s (20%). Jimmer had a
big doughnut down the stretch and into overtime. It is reason to rejoice and the
idolatrous behavior in Provo can cease.
Will DNews stop the abusive comments?Of course not. Just ask
Sad ending --- great season. Thanks much for the excitement!
it is hard to beat the refs too. Really bad called game by them. And byu was
still in the game. Congrads to all the byu players. And jimmer what can you say.
He will do good thing in the nba. But byu didnt lose the game. they were rob by
Thanks for a great season cougs!
Proven pretenders again. With their once in a generation player BYU
still can't win the big one.
A preemptive post for all the Ute trolls:It was our 5th loss of the
season. Your 5th loss of the season was less than 3 weeks into the season in
December. We won more games this year than you have in the last 2
years. You lost to every WCC team you played. We only lost to 1 PAC
10.2 team. You have 4 losing seasons in 6 years, people turning down
the head coaching job, we are reloading with a top recruit. We have
beat you 9 out of 10 times.
Thank heavens that whole thing is over with. Jimmer struggled down the stretch
and scored in the final 5 minutes and then into overtime. Perhaps now the Jimmer
madness will cease with him shooting 11-29 from the field and only 3-15 from
beyond the 3. Great season for the BY I have to admit and we Utes will miss you.
Good luck in the nether-realm of college hoops, otherwise known as the WCC.
Pretty suspect? Are you kidding me? Fredette is hitting just shy of 40%, but
has been hammered all night. If the refs had called every foul committed on him
tonight, he would have been to the line twice as much. And he also shot better
than the rest of his team. What happened to Emery after hitting 3
early shots? Disappeared. 3-8Abouo? 1-8Harsock? 3-9Rogers,
Magnuson, and Collinsworth combined to go 6-13. But the biggest miss from those
3 was Collinsworth missing the second free throw that would have given them a 1
point lead late in the 2nd half. But the haters will still blame
Fredette.Good season Cougars. Hate to see it come to an end like
this, especially in a game that was called different for each team. But only
the haters can complain about BYU's effort and play in this game. They were the
lower ranked seed. They were supposed to lose.
Thanks for a fun season, Cougars!
And we all lived happy ever afterTHE END.LOL!!
Like I said, you can't teach TALL...
Collinsworth has been a stud, Abouo, not so much. Lakcing patience on offense
Jimer has never learned how to use the other 4 players on his team.
Can somebody give me Jimmer's line from the field? From beyond the arc? Pretty
Rogers just got TACKLED in the corner. And that was after Jimmer got tripped.
Hard to win a game when the other team is playing football and allowed to get
away with it.
With about 11:00 to go - can you smelling it? Smells like Gator bait.LOL!
Here come the zebras. Calling an offensive foul on Fredette when he splits the
defenders and the guy sticks his knee into him? The creating a tech on Emery?
Call it fair, zebras.
Rebounds are tied. BYU is shooting poorly. Still hanging in their.
looks like maybe 50% full....
Too much size and length for the Gators. I don't have a good feeling about this
game but I also didn't have a good feeling about the Gonzaga game...so you never
know. Just seems like Florida is even more athletic than the Zags and it's going
to take a monumental effort from everyone to stay close in this game. Go Cougs.
It's been a great season!
