Question: "What part of destroying the economy don't you understand?" and, "What part of breaking up families don't you understand?"

Answer: The part that claims that these issues have anything at all to do with the true motives and agenda of the purveyors of the Utah Compact and Utah guest worker program.

The fact is, illegal aliens are perfectly free to keep their families together by taking them with them back to the countries of their true allegiance.

The fact is, enforcement would not "destroy" the economy. Instead, it would justly affect the profits of Utah's notoriously greedy businessmen who are unwilling to pay their fellow Utahns a fair wage. It also would affect churches that put numbers ahead of the rule of law.

"...in politics, perception is reality..."

Yes -- especially when that perception is dishonestly influenced by corrupt propagandists who lie in wait to deceive.

Consider, Mr. Bennett: "Nice things" only are nice when they actually comport with true and righteous principles. It is because you were not sufficiently committed to certain principles that most Utahns consider vitally important that you were replaced in the U.S. Senate.

Thank you, Senator Bennett. You referred to those who oppose the praised immigration legislation and say, "What part of illegal don't you understand?"

I say, "What part of illegal should we have welcomed as legal?" We need to correct our mistake of labeling the people we need as illegal.

Now you know why Bennett is not still Utah's Senator! What part of illegal/unconstitutional don't you understand! It is reported that Arizona has lost $21 million in revenues from convention/tourist loss, illegals cost Utah $450 million a year . . . I'll swap a $21 million loss in revenue for $450 million savings any day!

Praise from the Washington Post is hardly a good thing. Yet see how it causes Bennett's ears to perk up. This was one of the reasons we terminated his employment.

I think a lot of Utahns are for a approach more moderate than Arizona's. Probably not the vast majority as the polls suggest but I guess there are some who like this bill. My problem comes with the two programs that could be deemed unconstitutional. If the federal government is derelict in their constitutional duty, does that give us permission to ignore the Constitution in setting up a system that encourages more of the same behavior we are trying to correct?

Mr. Bennett, you lost your office but you retained your integrity.

"What part of illegal don't you understand?"

It's not just illegal, it's criminal. Those who come here illegally come for jobs. In order to get a job they need a SS number which they can't get as non-citizens. So they break federal law by swiping others identities at which time they become criminals. Felons. What part of felon does the ex senator not understand?

"What part of destroying the economy don't you understand?"

If this country's economy can't survive without foreigners we are in big trouble. How can the Mexican government survive if their citizens leave that country? If the immigrants are such hard and dependable workers why don't they stay home and help their economy? We have 15 million unemployed Americans sucking up billions in unemployment benefits... money we don't have. If illegals were to leave, unemployed Americans would have jobs.

"What part of breaking up families don't you understand?"

A red herring. Take the families with you as you leave. You brought them here, don't you?

Time and time again, proponents of an illegal immigrant guest-worker system or similar proposals are people such as Senator Bennett and other "elitists" who do not have to live with their home property values plummeting due to their neighborhoods being overrun with illegals. Nor do these elites have to deal with their children in schools where English is the minority language. Nor does Sen. Bennett have to deal with increasing gangs in his elite neighborhood. Nor do the elites have to compete for employment with illegal workers. Senator Bennett hasn't had his wages fall due to massive competition due to illegal workers. The elites don't have to worry about rising health care costs due to "free" health care services due to the exploding illegal population. The elites like Bennett can enjoy cheap house-cleaning services, yard care, etc while the rest of the non-elites have to see homes in their neighborhood with 5 families, (those homes falling apart, those homes pink or bright yellow), loud polka-music blasted at midnight, etc.

Come on over to the west side for a few years you elites before you dictate your opinions on illegal immigration.

"Another strong conservative voice in Utah political circles, The Sutherland Institute, has also been on board." ......In who's eye's?

It is a huge issue when a voice is said to be conservative, when in reality it is more middle of the road. I truly believe that life is more black and white, and when groups like the Sutherland Institute abandon principles while all the while proclaiming themselves as conservative, there is little one can do but question their motives.

The media has played the same role, trying to shape the issue of immigration.

I do care for my fellowman and wish ill on no one, but how is it that when natural consequences are brought upon someone who has made an error in judgement or broken laws, that I as a citizen am ignored to make way for those that are in the wrong? It is totally upside down.

I agree with others that this view of our previous Senator shows why he is no longer in office!

There shouldn't be a debate about Illegal Immigration, it states what it is, an act of entering a country illegally, with disreguard to a countries boaders and immigration laws.
Have we Americans got to a point where laws , aren't for some, we can disreguard some, and where outside influences(bus./elected officials/clergy)have more power than the judicial system, and laws?
The demise of that country is close at hand, when laws aren't enforced, anarchy will follow soon.
