why do we want to go into the playoffs when we know we would be a first round
exit team...you dont play to get into the playoffs for the sake of going to the
playoffs...you get there when you know you have a decent shot...i say...start
Harris Hayward Evans Favors Al Jeff...give them at least 25 mins a game...till
the end of the season...give the same minutes or more to CJ...just to let the
other teams know what he is capable of...then trade him...trade Bell...if
minnesota wants him...get ellington or wesley johnson...trade CJ to Tony
Allen...if memphis would fall for it...
@ JFFR,the only real centers we have are Elson and Fes,Elson is a career
backup, good in spots,Fes once again we just don`t know enough to decide,he is
good and he is bad,but we really need to find out about him, also Memo has played
alot of 5,but he is really a typical Euro center plays outside rather than back
to the basket and if we could team him with a Millsap or AJ that could
work, until you get to teams like the Lakers...
RE JFFRI am ok with not making playoffs this year for the following
reasonsBest we could do is 6, 7 or 8 - which = fodder against Spurs,
LA & Dallas this year - 1st round exitWe also lose our 1st round draft
pick No13 at the moment to the wolves re AJ tradeMiss playoffs we
get Nets 1st pick & keep ours which on current standings this gives us pick
6 & pick 13 and with Golden states first pick and ours next year
as well - hopefully we can get some solid playersMy thoughts anyway
- But will always support the Jazz and hope we beat the Knicks tonight
Milsap is the persona of this team. You lose him, you lose toughness, hard work,
and dedication. Bad at defense? He leads the team in steals. Top 5 in
blocks on the team. Leads the team in FG %.Monster scorer. Look for him to
start shooting that 3 ball next yearFes needs to go. Tomic should
come in.Get a big-man coach for Favors over the summer.Hornacek to
help Devin, Hayward, and Evans shoot better. All the team needs now
is a prolific and consisten 3 point shooter that is not CJ or Raja.
I find it interesting that Jazz fans are okay with not making the playoffs this
year.I'm hoping they do but I won't be too sad if they don't. @Houdini- I don't know much about Euro ball, so I appreciate your
perspective. I've been hopeful for Fes, but he's not very good at finishing
plays. Offensively he misses too many dunks and forces too many passes. I love
the guy, but with Favors I don't think we'll need him (I'd keep him for cheap,
but I think I'd really rather have Elson closing out a game then Fes.)
It will be interesting to see how Harris leads the team next year. I hope the
Jazz don't make the playoffs and get as many high draft picks as possible. Start
over and build with youth.
Tomic, from what I`ve seen he has some nice moves on the offensive side, not much
of a defender or rebounder,(he`s about 9`6 and weighs 193 lbs soaking wet)and
remember he`s playing EURO ball, that doesn`t always translate to success in the
ED,Watson is ok,nothing against him,but if we could upgrade it`ll help us,think
of some of the backups,Barea,Lawson,Blake,G Hill, just think those are better
than Watson,as far as Fes,I just have not seen enough to decide one way or
another, big guys typically take longer to develope, and this guy is BIG
Trade Okur if you can and keep MILLSAP! He is the toughest guy on this team and
if you trade him you might as well play the Lottery the next 5 years. Cut your losses with Miles, don't pick up his option. Trade Bell this
off-season to Minnesota since they wanted him during the season. Get rid of Okur
if you can and bring in a SG for his Salary and re-sign AK for 5-6, which will
leave the Jazz with about 10-12 mil. I'd only trade Millsap for a guy like
Bogut. Centers are hard to come by, it would be nice to get a Bogut but you'd
have to give up Al/Millsap and a first rounder most likely.
Houdini-You don't want Watson as backup pg?
Great article. I have been saying if DWill is a 10 then Harris is an 8 and
comes at half the price. I think I might have been wrong, he might be a 9. Favors has the potential to be a 10 and 2 first round picks...not a bad
trade! :)@The Great Houdini, how many more chances does Fes deserve?
He's done. If the Jazz can keep him for about a million, then he's nice to
have around, but there's not need for him next year. Especially if we bring in
Tomic and he's halfway decent.
Sorry folks,I forgot Fes on my list, but it seems the coaching staff have also
forgotten him.I`ve seen him play and at times he does good things other times he
stumbles around like a drunken sailor, but I`d like to know for sure, can the guy
play or not? Ostertag got 10 years to prove he was so-so-,miles has had years to
show his stuff(not much),give Fes a real shot or send him down the road
Keep Harris,Millsap,AK,(if possible),AJ,Favors,and Hayward...the rest ...good
luck and adios
Fantastic article. Well done Jody. Welcome to Utah, Devin. If
you're willing to give your basketball heart to us Jazz fans, we'll return the
honor. We pine for the days of John Stockton who endeared himself to us by
giving his all to the Jazz and enjoying his time in Utah.I'm looking
forward to the next two seasons!!! Go JAZZ!!!!!!!!
Great article. I think Harris is going to be a really great player for the
Jazz. I wish him all the good fortune in the world. Never give up, JAZZ!!
if they trade al or sap they won't be winning many games next year
Again... No team is in safe position 5 thru 9. A lot could happen. Chris Paul
just got hurt. Jazz play New Orleans two more times. Jazz play the Nuggets one
more time. Denver lost their last game, they should have lost the last two. I
assume they will be coming back to earth shortly. Phoenix is toss up as well.
Jazz are done with them but the sun's play Denver once and New Orleans three
more times. And to top it off The Jazz play Memphis one more time with the
Grizzlies having have a tough schedule ahead. A break here or there
and the Jazz are back in this. I think they have a good chance of getting better
from here on out. I have felt they are just one solid win or two away from
breaking it open. I hope so. To not believe right now I think is silly. Go Jazz
Good interview...apparently Devin really enjoys life and helping others. I
remember when he was with Dallas and Utah had real trouble guarding him. Hope he
stays awhile. As for the upcoming draft, Utah probably won't have a shot at
Kyrie Irving, PG from Duke, but might go for Kemba Walker from Connecticut,
although he is small. I'm guessing, though, that they will draft for another
position and try for a PG next year.
if we get the players the espn draft currently predicts - Harrison Barnes &
Jimmer - will need a starting SG - if CJ doesn't smarten up - Players i see that
are up grabs or out are - Bell, Memo, Elson, Price, Fes and depending the
potential trade for the right SG or C - Evans, Hayward, AJ & Millsap - To me
the only keepers are Harris, CJ (if consistent - will be cheap @ 3.7m team
option), Watson, Favors, Hayward, Evans, AK (at the right price)& AJ1st unit Harris, ? , Hayward/Barnes, Favors & AJ - bench Watson/Jimmer,
CJ, AK/Evans, Milsap , Tomic
@CJ Milesi agree...a defensive C who is not a liability in the
offense is needed...i see Millsap or Memo going...if the Jazz picks Kanter on
the draft...i'd rather trade millsap for a wing...maybe to milwaukee for a first
round draft pick and say...CDR or Delfino or Salmons?...AK i think they'll sign
him back for cheap...Tomic is not a defensive C....im just hoping for a brighter
No Dwill but I think he is one of the better point guards in the league. Much
cheaper than Dwill which allows the organization to sign another good player.
The Jazz need some defenders on the team who can score. Not easy to
find.AJ, Millsap and Favors.....One of them needs to go. Memo needs
to go. AK needs to go.
It sounds like if commitment is made to Devin he is the kind of person that
would also make a commitment. There is no question Jazz Nation has had their
heads spinning with the coaching change and trade. With Ty at the helm and with
players under contract, hopefully we can get back to more wins and the playoffs
especially with Devin Harris at point guard. The next big step will be the
collective bargaining agreement. Hopefully both sides will come to the
realization it is in their best interest's to find a solution. This time the
health of the NBA is at stake. The fans at the games have been great. Let's
keep it up to show support for the hustle and heart of this Jazz team. Go Jazz!
welcome Devinhope you enjoy your stay in Utah
