Amazing Lone Peak Team. They are the #1 team in the state and deserve the championship. They proved that against both Fremont and American Fork. GO KNIGHTS!!

what a special team, congrats to Lone Peak and the players.....this could be a string of three of four if things keep clicking.

Great job LP. Team defense once again. Quincy Lewis is a great coach. Talon Shumway really shined the last two games. Loved the dunks to really get the team going. Hats off to AF. They played hard the whole game. Marcel Davis and Bair are both going to be great D1 players.

It was great to send off the seniors with a championship.

Awesome job by Lone Peak today. They worked their butts off the whole season and deserved it for sure. Great job by everybody including Emery, Shumway, and Hamilton. Quincy Lewis is a dang good coach. Good job Knights proud to have graduated from LP.

Great Job to both teams for an amazing season!! I just wish I could of seen Murray play Lone Peak in the Championship game. I think Murray matched up a little better than American Fork did even though A.F. beat them in the semis. But anyways what a great year of High School Basketball!

Someone start a petition to rename No. Utah County to Title Town, Utah. Nice job Lone Peak! Should be the first of three of four in a row!

What a great day for the Emery family! Jackson helping win the MWC at the Marriott Center and Nick securing the MVP and winnning the 5A championship. Unbelievable that both games were at the same time. Congratulations to this family for raising these two fine athletes!

Go Cougars!

Af coach had no idea how to attack a 1-3-1 zone.....so much for the superior coaching in the state of Utah as compared to other big states.

is this a legit championship... just saying Lone Peak has 2 17 year old sophomores in emery and shumway and Haws is 16 already and he is a freshman... I guess lone peak will do anything it takes to win including holding their kids back a grade or 2 so they can win. Fremont or AF deserved it cause there kids are actually the right age they are suppose to be.

To the above post, you should probably check your source again on the birthday issue. Had a friend check out LP's media guide and you're not correct on any of their ages. Haws doesn't turn 16 until August, Emery isn't 17 until September. Don't know Shumway's b-day but he is currently 16. These are all HS ages anyway? Fremont and AF are both great teams and played well in the state tournament. It appears all these schools do what it takes to try and win......hard work, dedication, great coaching and community support. All these teams will be good next year.

American Fork, ut

Despite the ages LP is a great team, but yes Emery is already 17 he was driving as a freshman and the oldest Shumway is 19 already. So there team is older which gives them a little more advantage but they definetly have talent!

Nick doesnt turn 17 till sep. so your wrong

Is there anything wrong with holding someone back a grade? What's the big deal? Sure, Colton Shumway is old for his grade, but it's not like Lone Peak is the only one with kids that are older. Emery is only 16 though, Talon is also 16 and T.J. is only 15. From some of these comments, it just looks like people trying to make excuses why Lone Peak won and their team didn't. If their team won, this talk about ages wouldn't be taking place. Bottom line is that Lone Peak worked hard and earned that championship.

Talon's my brother... he's 16. Born exactly 8 years after me. I'm 24. Get your information right.

just fyi
American Fork, UT

Ya even if Lone Peak is a little older, they are closed enrollment. How many other contending schools can say that?

American Fork, ut

Rumor has it that Jaden Jackson is going to be going to American Fork next year, If that is the case AF will be a tougher team, although I dont agree with moving your kid schools for sports. I know there will be mixed emotions if he really does transfer to AF, I Mean whos spot is he going to take? They already have enought PG and Shooting guards.
