Eight more days, two more games, and the end of an era of the worst basketball coach in Ute history. The time is coming, finally. The evidence presented in todays game was the usual, Utah has the ball for a last second possession at the end of the first half. There is not a play called, it is the same thing that has happened in some three to four dozen games. Guard dribbling around with nobody to throw the ball to and then forces a shot up. How does this continue to happen, how do you not design a play and practice to execute is beyond me. I think the Ute players are better than the Rams players. But the coaching is where I see the problem. During the same four years their are huge differences in the basketball programs at colorado state and utah. The time has come, eight days, two more games, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

What a pathetic state in which our Utah hoops program lingers under the direction of this coaching staff. Congratulations Coach. You just got swept by CSU and AFA in 2010-2011. I can't believe that happened, but it did. At the beginning of the year I predicted 14 Wins for this team. My expectations were way too high, UNLV will keep us at 13 come Saturday.

For those of us who have been realistic about things, we knew these last two games were going to be tough. Unfortunately, BYU's struggles gave New Mexico the opening they needed and now we have a must win situation Saturday to have any hope of the 5 seed. With UNLV knowing they have to win to get into the NCAA tournament, it's going to be really tough. It's no disgrace to lose to CSU, but we needed this win.

I feel bad for BYU, I really really do, but I just have to say, with the way things have gone for them the last couple days, it keeps the trolls away from these articles.

That is a breath of fresh air.

Benny boy,

The self righteousness by the Utes these days passes anything ever seen in Provo. It is interesting that very few(Utes included) comment on the ute articles. I'll never understand the obession with BYU by the Utes. I definitely check in on the Ute articles as a fan of sports. I even would love to see the Utes back above .500 in basketball. Hopefully all 3 state schools can be good together some day.

It would also be nice to once in a while not see the constant Ute hate on BYU articles, but I won't be holding my breath.

calm down. dont get so riled up. go back and read my post without looking to be offended.

My point is, I like coming on here and discussing the games with other Ute fans. On the average article, the majority of the comments are from BYU fans (yourself included) making jokes, talking smack, and just trolling. There are a few exceptions (fresno and Kyle are the best, Veritas is good most of the time, but occasionally lets his emotions get the better of him). As far as Ute fans trolling BYU articles, Im sure it happens. I dont post there frequently, so I cant say. Its annoying to sort through comment after comment talking about how Utah is one of the worst programs in the country, they are terrible, and blah blah blah. Since the brandon davies thing, there are more ute fans and fewer trolls.

Thats all.

Benny,

I wasn't offended. And I consider you sort of like Veritas - most of the time you seem like decent guy who ocassionally lets your inner dislike of byu get the better of you.

For sure there are byu fans who rub it in a little(Yes myself admittedly included sometimes). Just as quick curiosity check I looked at all of the comments on the 10 articles with in the front page of the Utes sports section.

Guess how many byu fans spewing hate I found? Here's a hint, it's less than 1.
Care to know how many Ute fans spewing hate are within the BYU sports section?

If you want to convince yourself it somehow is from the sudden Davies thing, whatever works for ya. As if last week was completely picture? Right.

Let out the Different of completely different picture. Sorry about that Benny

It's a sad situation when the hardest-dying Ute fans are hoping the Utes lose, quickly and badly. That's where we are now. Euthanasia.

What? The Utes lost? How can this be? They have been improving and getting better very week! They have two(2) centers, that as Coach Boylen said, "you need to have to win games". I don't understand! How is 'One on five' offensive strategy not working? Assists, and rebounds are apparently not important, so how is that we are losing games? Oh ya, now I think I'm getting it. Ogide is the best center in the history of the game. How can we beat that?

Thank heavens that we only have to suffer through 2 more games of this ineptness.

@ Ted H just a thought, Get a life and go back to your Ybu pages. This article is not about U fans vs Ybu fans.

It may be the end of the road for Coach Boylen. If he can't get a win Saturday, that dooms us to a killer seed in the MWC tourney and probably a first round exit. I'd like to see him have another season, but if enough powerful and wealthy boosters are putting pressure on Chris Hill, he will be gone.

Ted, if you think I have a "dislike" of BYU, you haven't ready my infrequent posts. The fans are what bothers me. If not for them, I would cheer for the Cougs.

Moving on to real things and real people,

Utah is in a tough spot. Hopefully, they can win against UNLV and get some momentum going into next year. It will be tough. UNLV is on the bubble of the tourney and needs every win it can get. They will play hard.

I like the talent in the program, and the future is very bright. Hopefully, no one transfers and we can improve next year. I would say for financial reasons, give Boylen one more year (provided no one leaves) and if he can't get to 18 wins, then he needs to be shown the door.

SoCalUte, thanks for bringing this up. I don't come on here to talk about BYU fans. The fact is, they don't understand the word rivalry or what its about. Its the bubble that covers Utah County I think.

As for Utah, an interesting stat that I find interesting is the total number of losses Rick Majerus has in his career at Utah which was 95 (13 in post season). Boylen in 4 seasons has lost 60 (2 in post season). I was a season ticket holder at Utah during the 90s and stopped after the mission and moving away. But I remember every game being sold out. I remember Utah having a 49 game home winning streak, and others like it. Now, our record at home this year is going to be 9-6 when UNLV finishes the sweep.

The only thing that scares me is that I think Boylen gets another year when considering the financial terms of his contract which to me is disturbing.

Go Utes.... I sadly watch every game like we will win even though I know we will lose.

You should be flattered that BYU is getting all the attention. Up until the Brandon Davies suspension it was for positive things. Fact is, BYU is the hottest sports story in Utah right now. If fact, they're one of the hottest in the country. With the Jazz and the Utes struggling, people are attracted to where the noise is. It will change over time as the teams for each school rise and fall.

What's up?

Give Boylen one more year????? What are you thinking? C. Hill gave this clown an extension for who knows why, so maybe he will write off next year. Who knows, but does Boylen deserve one more year, try to explain that.
