Alright, another BYU victory.
Thretton Palamo is going to kill byu in Rugby AND Football this year!!GO UTES!!
Rugby - great, great sport! Wish I were closer.
Go Cougs!! Who have beat utah several times recently in rugby. This could be
Uh...Utah beat BYU last year at Rio Tinto...and the Utah 7's won the National
tournament, beating Cal. And Jimmer doesn't play rugby. Glad you finally have
somebody to idolize---i've seen Jimmer's picture taped to many a BYU alum's
pocket protector (I hire a lot of BYU grads, they make good copies). Enjoy the
game, I will.
Utah did beat BYU last year. But Come on. They split their games last year.
BYU also played for a national Championship last year, won the National
Championship in 2009. BYU also beat Utah 8 straight games before that game.
Utah is also very good in Rugby and it should be a good game.
Let's go Utes. Show em how it's done!!!
Yes, Utah is very good in Rugby and finished ranked 2nd nationally last year.
@hymnblauch beat me to it but you need a reality dose. Utah's win
against BYU last year was the 1st on in several years and they actually split
last year. Not to mention as blauch pointed out BYU played in the National
Championship game last year. So while those BYU alums are making
copies you need to get busy making my burrito. But the truth is both
schools have great rugby teams, it just so happens BYU's is better. No shame in
that, enjoy your own team as they'll win plnety of matches this year although
probably not against BYU.
hymnSince we've gone to self-service, Utah alums no longer have to
leave the booth to pump gas into my Lexus. How many national
championships has Utah won in rugby?Just as I thought; another Utah
fan beating his chest about finishing 2nd, AGAIN!
BYU's worst win was by 15 points on the road. They are averaging wins of about
70-3...all on the road. They even shutout Penn State 64-0. Rugby is actually
fun to watch in person. Lay a slaughter on 'em Cougs!
awesome to find a sport where both programs are top ten nationally. Hope it
turns out to be a good game.
Jealous U,That's great. I pointed out we finished 2nd, because BYU
finished 3rd in the final poll last year. So while your boys are braggin about
playing in the Championship game, it didn't get you a higher final ranking.
You guys are so clever...and all this boy scout trash talk. I was only
clarifying the record. Utah beat BYU at Rio Tinto. Utah 7s won a National
championship over the same Cal team BYU beat (that counts as a National
Championship in rugby). We've loved playing BYU over the years...as a member of
the Church I have been disappointed in their sportsmanship at times---kicking
over garbage cans and flashing gang signs, but they have their share of good
young men and the games have been some of the best rugby you'll see in the
Country. As for being jealous, no. You guys live in Alpine, American Fork and
Omaha...what's to be jealous of?
Yeah hymn to the silent utah did beat BYU last year and yes they did win the
national 7's tourney, (which BYU did not participate in because the final was on
sunday). but BYU played in the full squad national championship again, and BYU
has had its way with utah much of the time in the past few years. BYU is always
in the final four and when 7's stops playing the championship on sundays they'll
be in that final four too. Go Cougars!!!!!
I can't believe this is all that the paper has about this so far. Rugby in Utah
is huge, having 2 colleges that are nationally ranked play each other in a great
stadium, with great fans on both sides. They should have a big spread about
this, with pictures, records, and other facts. BYU won the 15's National Title
in 2009. Utah played on National Television and won the 7's National Title
against Cal in OT none the less. Highland and United played in the high school
national title and being separated by only about 40 miles, that adds to the
greatness of the game in this state. Poor coverage by our so intrigued
cougarnate: if you knew anything about rugby you'd realize BYU would not have
fielded a good 7s team last year. They are built for 15s, and they are good at
it...but lets not spread the hypothetical halo too far...that dreamy "we
woulda" attitude reveals how childish you are. Agree with
BPMiller. Poor coverage of the strongest rugby state in the Country, from u19 to
college to club. The 7s tournament on NBC had six times the viewership the
National college Lacrosse tourny had, more coverage than the 15s championship.
7s is now an Olympic sport. And the News gives delivers a few lines?
