MLS soccer net wrote the crowd was closer to 4,000.
If they had 4000 I'd be surprised.
Looked more like 2000 or so. They had their supporters group, and then handful of people in the stands. Although we couldn't see the other side.
Another award-winning performance by Jair Marrufo, the worst professional referee I've ever seen.
The team could have coped easily with losing Beltran, but not Borchers. Especially not now that Jeff Cunningham is going to be starting the return game. RSL is going to have to score 2 or more goals at home.
Thankfully, they will!
A decent result considering the terrible officiating. RSL will play much better next week at home.
Schuller or McKenzie? Has anyone heard if Schuller is healthy? We will have Collin Warner, Alverez, and Paulo Jr as attacking options. In this game I think they just hoped Espy would be able to pull some magic out of his hat by playing his usual pesky style. The game plan was to play defense and keep everything in front of them, and they did that to perfection.
A painfull match to watch. I hope it can be blamed on the conditions, and not a harbringer of things to come.
Ugly game as I expected (25 degrees and frozen bumpy pitch). It was made even worse with RSL's red card. Then they just sat back and waited for the game to end. Hopefully we can jump all over them at Rio Tinto.
