Huge win. Great job Birds.
Fantastic win!! IUPUI is a good team. The downside: This is going to possibly hurt our chances that President Benson will do the right thing and make a change at the Head Coach spot. One win, while great, does not atone for the absolute ineptitude that we've witnessed from Coach Reid. We've got one season to prepare for getting into the Big Sky Conference. Please spend that year rebuilding, and not waiting our the lame duck season of a coach that will absolutely not be brought back in 2013. We've got one shot at this. Don't blow it.
Looking at the roster, almost every player will be back next year. The team seems to be playing good basketball right now.
SoCaltransplant, unfortunately Roger Reid has one year left on his contract, unless he gets bought out, we will have to suffer another atrocious season. I like you hope that they can him this year and build for the future, he has been an utter disappointment.
My understanding is the T-Birds don't need to rebuild, they are building right now. Four of their leading scorers from last night's game are SOPHS, the other two are JRS. Having that experience going into the Big Sky will be a boon, especially where it is a lesser league than the Summit League and the Bird's will be competing against more similarly-situated schools (and recruits) without the brutal travel. The Summit League's RPI is currently 17, the Big Sky 26 (out of 31 leagues).
Coach Reid has been a coach of the year at every level of basketball, and won hundreds of games over 30 years of coaching. The commissioner of the Summit League said after last night's game he had never seen any team do what SUU did to the Jags on their home court. Good on ya, T-Birds.
Did you not see we won SUUstudent. Obviously you are not a real SUU fan. No one rip's his own team and coaches like this.
I hope everyone reading these comments understands what SUU mens basketball team is up against. Going to D1 and becoming competative does not happen overnight. Coach Reid has had winning programs at every level and SUU is very fortunate to have a coach of his credentials at the helm. Given time SUU's program will continue to improve. I am sure the President Benson is well aware of that and supports Coach Reid. We are fortunate to have a Coach with his connections and abilities. I have seen a huge difference in the caliber of player Coach Reid is bringing to the table right now. They are not just good athletes, but also good students. That makes a big difference. Keep in mind this years team only has one senior. Be patient and let Coach Reids system work. It will, it has in the past and it will again. The atheletes are in place let there coach take them there now.
