As a future music educator, I am thrilled about this! I remember seen the Utah Symphony play when I was in elementary school, and I was impressed. Now that I am much more involved in music, they impress me even more.

Appreciation for classical music is diminishing in general among our youth. I hope we can do more to incorporate it into their lives, as the study of music enhances-- not distract from-- their education in other subjects.

I was privileged to accompany my 5th graders on this field trip and enjoyed the performance by the Utah Symphony. What disappointed me was the ill behavior of the students from other schools and the teachers who allowed it. If we as teachers do not hold our students accountable for their behavior in public who will?

This is fabulous! When I was a young student, field trips were always about learning something new or appreciating something of value. It's good to know that this wasn't just an outing, but that there was learning and preparation beforehand. What would be nice here on the comment page would be some comments from the students who had this experience.
