ABC News had an amusing but sad report last night about how three "no
brainer" cuts -- subsidies for oil and ethanol and for a jet engine that
the military doesn't want -- an easy $30 billion cut, is literally off the table
for the GOP.In fairness, before the GOP proposes cuts to mainstream
Democratic programs, like aid to the unemployed, education, arts, and the sick,
the GOP can get some credibility by cutting its favorite programs, like
subsidies for oil, agriculture, and military companies. If it takes that first
step, then the American people will be more supportive of their broader cuts.
Everyone must feel the pain of GOP budget cuts -- from the sick and
unemployed TO the wealthy oil companies and military industrialists.
Driving the move is a promise made in last fall's campaign to cut $100 billion
from President Barack Obama's proposals. - Article So, Republicans
DIDN'T do this, correct? The earlier GOP plan would have saved $35
billion. - Article Why people CONTINUE to support the
Republican party... when the Republican party does not support the
American people... and fails to fufill it's promises so much that
it uses said promise often... is beyond me.
