Really now?...Fesenko?...he doesnt have potential...he is just a big clog in the
paint that is all...dont kid yourselves...the dude isnt athletic...and is light
years away from being somewhat like Gortat...heck...id rather have darko milicic
@ captin L first Fez cant move his feet and is so uncordinated they call a foul
on him with the slightest contact just bc he looks like a fouler. havent you
ever played with that guy at the ymca that you are afraid of bc you just know he
will accedentally be so uncordinated he misses that ball and breaks your nose..
or if you go up for a layup you will get killed and land on your butt.. bc he is
just so out of control the game just looks like a sloppy mess when he's out
there..the refs will never let him get away with any contact bc he just looks
like he is fouling everyone.. but he is just so huge he looks like he has
potential when he goes up hard and dunks it,or when he blocks a shot, but i just
dont see him being able to get much better then he is now. and i think he hurts
us in so many other ways that even though his size can be a problem to other
teams i just dont think he is the answer for this team ..only as backup
Fes is a big project and I think Jerry sees that so Jerry's just playing mind
tricks with Fes to shape him into a good big man.I mean, look how
Jerry didn't let Fes play unless he made his free throws....against the Kings,
he actually made some. I wouldn't play Fess either. Other teams
should just foul him every time he gets a shot...his foul shots were basically
turn-overs. Until he gets that into the 60% range and defends the
ball not the man, he won't play big minutes
jcrotty25: It's not Fes's offense we need, everyone will admit his offense is
very much lacking but it is Fes's defense and just his presence in the paint
that the Jazz need. Our interior defense is terrible. Fes's plus / minus is one
of the best, if not the best on the team and that means when he is in the game
our team outscores the other team, that is what we want isn't it. It's not Fes's
ability to score, it's his impact on the game, which is usually positive. I've
said several times, Sloan needs to play Fes like he did Eaton, don't even worry
about how much offense he can give, just use him to control the paint,
intimidate and rebound. Any offense is a plus and just icing in the cake. There aren't alot of players like Fes out there to pick from, Elson may be 7'
but he doesn't have the impact Fes has, he is too skinny and doesn't bang and
make people pay when they come into the paint.
@ AK i have nothing against Fez i accually think he is a decent project and i
think every team should have one big true center.. but thats just not what wins
in the nba anymore.. who said anything about a jump shooting team i sure didnt..
but more and more it is other positions in the post and not the center doing all
the scoring... i mean other then shaq what true center has been the intrigal
piece of a championship team...dwight probably will win one at some point as the
top player on his team as a true center but thats it.. detroit = center ben
wallace 6'7" and rasheed wallace who was a shooter...celtics... couldnt win
anything without garnett who was a shooting center/pf... lakers..gasol is a P
forward who plays center when bynum is hurt..bynum second best true big in the
nba.. but he was the fourth best player on his team.. his main benifit to the
lakers was his shotblocking and rebounding.. it had nothing to do with his
interior scoring.. it was his rebounding and shotblocking.. and those centers
can be picked up off the street ie (cris anderson denver)
If Fes were so good, why would Jerry not play him? You all say CJ is bad and
Jerry plays him!!
Fes gets minutes, does what he does, uses his size, Jazz win (albeit barely
against a bad team).Wonders never cease.
Here's to a very Fes-tive win tomorrow night! Hope Fes gets a chance to dunk on
the Boozer a couple of times! Hope big Al is ready slam a few down on him too!
Wow jcrottywhat did Fes to you. Maybe except you 2 guys everybody sees
potential in Fes. Black Griffin is PF playing not so good team as go to guy no
wonder he fills stat sheets every night. Centers don't need 3 point shots, more
reliable dunk bank shots and hooks these are arsenal of bigs. Jazz wins
because of high % shots layups. Jump shooting team never won championship am I
Its so sad when ppl are forced to talk about a player who is borderline in the
nba .. fez... thats how weak our team is... how is JFFR the only one who can see
that..maybe he will someday be the best he can be and all you can say you are
right who seem to be in love with him .. but is that really somnthing to get
excited about when the best he can be is a slow tall player who avg... 9 points
and 5.5 reb and 1 block per game......in a league that is more and more about
bigs who are speed and quickness and athleticism- example blake griffen who is
only 6'7 then the slow 7 footer.. come on ppl you are living in the past.. its
not the 90's anymore.. wake up! besides dwight howard how many big strong
ancor's in the middle are there.. most 7 ft tall players shoot outside and are
225 dripping wet..
CJ's play has been PATHITIC as of late. I can understand being in a slump and
not making a lot of your shots, but I will NEVER understand the lack of effort
or intensity from a 23yr old being paid millions of dollars. And play defense
for cryin' out load!
trade for arron brooks .. looks like houston has its point g .. in kyle lowery..
brooks avreged 20 points per game last year... so he gives us several things we
need ... top flight speed and quickness to get anywhere on the floor and pick
apart the defense(currently we have nobody who can do that) he can hit the 3
pointer decently ... and last but not least the dude can fill it up...also would
add some much needes speed/decision making on the fast break..there is talk
houstan will move him b4 deadline... work it koc
A player like Fesenko points to Sloan's inability toencourage a much
needed big guy to guard the paint..I think Fesenko would be good with
either of our forwards Big Al and Smallsap.
Why is CJ horrible? CJ can fill it up quick and his contract is only 4 million,
which is a steal! CJ has carried the bench all season long, yes he has taken
some bad shots, but who cares, who hasn't? At least he shoots the ball and is
athletic enough to get to the rim. I swear some Utah jazz fans would complain if
Michael Jordan or Larry Bird was on this team and shooting to many jump shots. I
dont see anyone bagging on Price? I admit Miles is a streak shooter, but he has
a ton of talent and adds so much value to this team. We need a real shooting
guard coming off the bench, Price is playing out of position trying to play the
CJ is horrible. He needs to go. now.
Trade Memo to Houston for Martin. They need a big man and we need a SG who can
hit the three. The down side to Martin is his defense. Memo has not been a
great defender and his contract it to big for a #2 center on any team. The perfect trade would be to get Matthews back but as it was last summer, the
$$ don't fit the Jazz.
Remember last year in the Playoffs when Memo got hurt and Fes started for the
Jazz, everyone thought that the Nuggets would roll right through the Jazz,
Fesenko alters shots and changes the game! I think the Jazz need to start
Fesenko and have either Big Al or Milsap come off the bench. We will need to get
a shooting guard, we need perimeter play, we dont need to spend a fotune, we can
find a shooting guard that is a bargain out there, heck, even Othyus Jeffers
would be an upgrade over Price playing out of position trying to come off the
bench and play the two. We need a shooting guard! Keep working hard, looking
forward to the Cows Wed. night! Lets go Jazz!
Glad to see Fes get some PT and the more he gets the better he will get. Fes's
difficulties (apparent clumsiness) are mostly a result of his hurrying &
rushing his moves and shots, when he learns to slow down and not rush things he
will look and play better. For that to happen though he needs more playing time
so he can get comfortable and not be in a hurry. Sloan needs to play Fes more,
it only helps the team and will help Fes develop.Houdini: Good point about
CJ, I have said many times that CJ needs to have a pregame workout like Ray
Allen and that would help him become consistent. I believe your right, CJ
probably plays video games etc instead of getting into the gym. For the
Jazz to beat the Bulls, they will have to come out and play like they did
against Denver.AK makes a big difference, good to see him back.
Deron & Jerry are right, this is the worst executing Jazz team in years on
both ends. Even when the Jazz have numbers on the fast break they some how find
a way to mess it up.Every team in the league is running Al off a
pick and roll. He guards it about as good as Shaq does. I will say that Al did
get out on that last pick and roll when the Kings were trying to tie the game at
the end, so obviously he can cover it when motivated. Can Al do that
consistently in games is the question. Lastly any win on the road in
the NBA is a good win even in Cleveland, bring on Boozer and the Bulls!
JBQ....That's how Jerry coaches. Two man game. Three others stand in the
corner and watch. Could you imagine if Jerry's offense was actually built for
all five players how good the Jazz would be?The funny thing is I
think Jerry's defense is builit for two players too. At least it seems that way
the way this team defends!!
@JBQ... are you kidding me???? The flex offense is one of the few offensive
systems where every player actually plays an integral role each time down the
floor. Watch the cross-picks, v-cuts, baseline runs, etc. Even if each player
isn't getting looks, they are still responsible for the end result. And by the
way, AK is shooting 45%, which is lower than both Big Al and D-Will.
You can't "teach height". Either Fez has potential or he doesn't.
You have to find out. AK was the difference. How many shots did he take
compared to the rest of the team? He takes about one fourth of what Williams
and Jefferson, who play ping-pong with each other on the court. He also has a
ridiculously high percentage. In Utah, basketball is not a team game. Williams
and Boozer did the same thing. This is a "false positive" victory.
This only hypes up hope and then the team crashes because they can't play
How about Fess' big assist to close the quarter? Harpring had it right on...
Fess flipped it over Cousins to Bell for the buzzer beater. Kind of a goofy
Globetrotters type play, but it showed more awareness than I thought Fess had.
Still, he's got a LONG ways to go.
How can you dethrone a hapless Queens team that has no business even being in
the league? The Jazz are sqeeking out victories against opposition like the
Kings (er Queens). The win over the Newguts in Denver means nothing when a team
comes home and gets punked in their own crib, the way they were by the Sonics
(er lightning, thunder) or whatever. What a name for a team. The commissioner
obviously has put out an edict to lay off Kevin Durrant. Don't body up on him
or touch him. The Jazz zone defense doesn't work against good teams, plain and
simple. The Jazz are not playing well enough to be a playoff team, let alone a
credible team. They are one of the teams, just like the old ABA Utah Stars to
be disbanded and folded into the remaining league teams. But the mercenary
owners will probably not do what they should do. The NFL and the MLB leagues
should do the same thing....shrink the number of teams. There are not enough
players in the world to support the high calibre play fans should demand, to pay
the exorbitant prices for tickets, sponsors commodities, etc.
It's great to see a win but let's not get to excited. With just a 12-36 record
the Kings certainly are not one of the better teams in the league.
The second unit is a better functioning unit when Fesenko gets 15 to 20 minutes
a game. It takes more than 4 or 5 minutes to get in a rythum. 11 pts., 7
rebounds, 1 steal, and 0 turnovers in 18 minutes of play. Then we won. That
works for me. Keep working on those free throws big fella.
It's easy to be critical of little things Fes doesn't do right now, but the
truth is, he is our best hope right now at interior defense. We need him. We
need to continue to play him.An observation I had last
night--Millsap does better playing off Fesenko compared to playing off AJ. I'd
like to see more pairing of AJ/AK and Fes/Millsap at the 4/5. I'd love to get
some minutes for Evans at SF with AJ/AK.
No trade rumors at all? Does not bode well.
A win,but just doesn`t feel good.Fes some good moments, hope he can get some
steady minutes.Shorty Millsap, just another nice solid game.Miles do you really
believe CJ is gonna put down the video games and go practice? I really wish he
Not too bad for a team with no real sg or center.
CJ has always been streaky. He has come thru in the past and carried the team
some nights. He has also stunk it up on occasion. His good nights make him worth
his 3 Mill. I have given up on expecting CJ to step it up and
consistently hit good shots, rebound and play D. Some nights he plays well some
he does not. He is okay as a bench player. He will find his stroke
pretty soon. Bell and AK have also had funks so I guess CJ can have one.
Fes has plenty of liabilities but he contributed to this win. Elson is an okay
player, better than I though he would be. However, Fes would get
better with more minutes. The Jazz could also use a decent shooting SG. However,
I am pretty sure the front office signed Elson when they thought Fes was going
to HOU. That changed and then Fes came back after Elson was signed. I am glad to see a win and a DEN loss. If the Jazz do not get it together and
quick, they will drop to the 9th or 10th seed in another couple of weeks. The Jazz have not "stubbed their toe". The Sloan
system is disrupted on a regular basis and Sloan/KOC did not put enough outside
shooting into this team to save it when the system fails and/or the paint is
packed. The Jazz are pretty bad right now. They are going to have to
fix the outside shooting problems, play consistent defense and rebound or they
are NOT making the playoffs.
CJ stinks right now. However he was the only Jazz player to make a 3 tonight.
So it's not like anyone on the team is lighting it up from outside.Bell and AK both played well so CJ was not needed tonight. But he had better
wake up soon or the season will be over. There is no excuse for him to be
shooting so bad. Get in the gym and take 500 shots a day.
Cj its time. I hate seeing this inconsistant CJ
Fes congrats, it took a break for Elson to get hurt otherwise he sits as usual.
Why do we not talk about things he does well. For one, the Kings have to earn
the points jump shooting and 3 point plays do not result on drives to the lanes.
Feseneko has some quickness for spin moves, he is not that clumsy. He needs
better hands and work on his foul shooting. But people need to stress what fes
can do. Bell it is good to see the resurgence, DWIL, Paul and AJ
nice games. The way AJ started I thought he would get 30 or 40 but did not get
back into the same groove after being subbed. For once it was great
to see the Jazz coaches finally focus on rotation and 3 point close out.Sacramento made 6 3s in the first half, but zero in the 2nd half. That
helps coming back and winning this game by 3 points.CJ? No comment.
Another garbage night
Common Hawai. Lately Kings beat Lakers in LA! shot down NO, played evenly 3.5
quarters with Celtics. Cousen looks for real. If Jefferson could pass that will
be difference. Good win Go Ak
JFFR: I guess hall of fame coaches also get preferential treatment in the NBA.
It is what it is! Go Jazz! They need to get the #3 or #4 seed to do anything
in the WC playoffs. Otherwise, if they escape the 1st round, they will more
than likely be playing either the Spurs or Lakers in the 2nd round.
It's a sorry state of affairs when Utah can barely beat Sacramento.
If Fes ever gets serious about his career, he has a solid future ahead of him.
Glad Elson was out tonight so Fes could have an impact. Except at the foul
As Chuck and Todd have said for two years, when Fes gets playing time, good
I know everyone is going to go nuts on Fesenko's box score, but can I just say
I'm still not impressed with him. -Cousins had his way with him.
(Jefferson had taken him out of the game until Fes came back in) -He
doesn't set good screens-Where was he on the defensive glass?-He's
clumsy with the ballJust listen to Harpring, he continually points
out the spots that Fesenko doesn't get to on the floor. This game was
UGLY. I don't like blaming things on the refs but they were incredibly bias.
Is years passed Sloan would have picked up a technical foul and probably been
Fesenko was the difference maker in this game. Best game I think he has ever
played as a Utah Jazz man.
