Just hoping that Fredette and the Cougars have a great game. All this Hype is getting to be too much. But there shouldn't be a blowout if SDSU's slowdown play matches their billing. Going with BYU by 5 62-57 and Fredette with 22...maybe with a couple of Buffalo Wing overtimes...(LOL)... Glad it's a Homer.
Epic?
Maybe a beginning, but epic is a mile or three away.
Webster: Epic- a long narrative....written in a dignified, majestic style and often giving expression to the ideals of a nation or race.
Let's not get carried away with hyperbole too early. This story is still in the first chapter.
As one friend often reminds me, "Quit exaggerating. If I've told you once I've told you a million times---quit exaggerating."

Everyone I know from coast to coast and overseas is watching this game tonight. Let's keep it in perspective though and take things in order: this is the most important conference game to-date. Later we can worry about the MWC tournament (we haven't won many in LV), and then if we get past the first 2 rounds of the NCAA's (how many decades has it been??), we can talk about where this team sits in relation to Duke (perennial winners) and the other top teams.
We always, ALWAYS get talking way too early about how good we are and rarely have we walked the walk.
Can only hope this game lives up to all the hype. A perfect scenario would be for all starters to play well and to score in double figures with Jimmer going off for 40+ with a game winning shot in double overtime for the win.
GO Cougars!!!
It was fun reading the articles and listening to the comments. Thanks for sharing these and ... GOOOO Cougars!

very imposing or impressive; surpassing the ordinary (especially in size or scale); "an epic voyage"; "of heroic proportions"; "heroic sculpture"
Happy?
Can you feel it? I can. It's the annual kewgar hype that ends it epic failure.
BYU vs. New Mexico , yep... how about the BYU vs. Florida St. game ... ouch.
wow I've never seen so much hype for a basketball game at the Y...though last year against NM was pretty pumped. Hope lady luck is with us tonight.
Jimmer is the real deal but the team is a one-trick pony. When he leaves, BYU basketball will return to independant basketball obscurity.

.....
Jimmer didn't even start during his fresman year.
BYU has a solid team, with returning missionaries, the PG from UCLA transferring, solid recruiting.
They will handle the Utes and Bulldogs for many years to come.
I have The CBC-C network on DirecTV. Swing by and we'll watch it together.

I agree. I have not seen this much local Hype since the Ute-SWBU, Ute-USD basketball game, ore even the Utah-TCU Gameday football game.
You doing OK?

You DO realize that this article is about basketball, right?
Wow, when was the last time you saw national media doing a breakdown on how to stop a player from BYU. What about any other school? Anyone ever recall any articles like that. I am not sure that I can. I love basketball. This is unprecedented, in my experience. I just hope that they play well tonight. I am not really worried about all the hype on Jimmer, I think he will be fine. I do hope that some of the other players haven't read all of the crap. Can you feel the tension?
Jeff
I have to laugh at the BYU haters talking about a potential meltdown when it was just a couple of months ago the largest sports catastrophe this state has witnessed with a 47-7 absolute torch job.
Ute trolls... bring it on!
In preparation for the "most historic game ever in RES" the true reality there was fear and anxiety for the inevitable, a royal beatdown of epic proportions.
Tonight the Cougars go in with a tremendous amount of confidence and THE clout to back it up. It ain't smoke and mirrors like Ute football.
Go Cougars. This is going to be a great game.
This will likely be a close game. A win or loss won't be a surprise, though, a win will, no doubt bring much joy to the Sewell household.

That offer to come down here to Bowling Green is still good. You definitely need to get out of those woods up there around Ann Arbor. The season has changed brother. It's BYU Basketball not Football my muttering friend. You need to spend some time in the sunshine. You're worrying a lot of folks out here. Some of these folks are starting to think you actually mean what you say. Now that's scary!!!
If this is a post-hype meltdown, I think I'm fine with meltdowns. Imagine what a non-meltdown would have been like!
Yes Hedgie I can feel it...and as usual I wasn't what you thought you felt. How does it feel??? to be so out of whack....You got Jimmered again.
Lived up to the hype for me. What a game!
Go Cougs!
Was the hype epic? Sure was. It might actually grow now though. Epic +1?
