Please, it's time to step down with a job well done.

The People will help him retire through the ballot box if he refuses to retire voluntarily.

Is anyone surprised that Hatch is seeking reelection, or that the reason he gives to stay in the senate is money? Sounds just like Bennett. And like Bennett there are many of us looking for a better candidate to deny his request for yet another term.

What do you call a seven term senator? I call it a bad idea.

Hopefully if Senator Hatch is re-elected he will return to his more fair and deliberate assessment and judgment of Supreme Court nominees, from which he made a big departure in the last two nominees that came before him. Sen. Hatch has made bipartian overtures in the area of child and family needs. Hopefully he will focus on reducing the deficit instead of continuing to use his position on spending committees to increase the debt on our children and grandchildren instead of focuing on how much federal spending he can bring to Utah. The time of big federal spending is over and that Sen. Hatch will return to his conservative Republican roots and focus on wise spending not increased spending.

Let me know if there is another republican challenging Hatch. The democrat candidate certainly can't beat Hatch. Hard to find another republican that would want to challenge Hatch in primary.

For 8 years under Bush you stood by as the National Debt and Spending exploded.

Teddy Kennedy's best buddy.

I voted for you everytime...But, no more.

Orrin, don't be like Brett Favre and hang on too long and embarass yourself, be more like Steve Young, go out with your head held high, even though the last 8 years were questionable.

Even Lavell knew when to pack it in.

You are not a King.......36 years is long enough.

36 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think about that!

Go fishing....serve your Church, Golf, take up pottery or water colors, do some genealogy or buy a Harley, just please for the love of all things holy,
move on.

Seriously it's time to go, it's 4:00 pm, time for Dinner.

Come along Now, don't trip on the dog....

Did I read his bio right in Senate since 1976? Good job now time to retire. He probably learned 90% of all the political rules, tricks and law his first 12 years. So why would we want to reelect someone to do the same work for the next 6 years. If he makes through the primaries I hope the Dems put up someone close to center.

Let's give Orrin a vote of thanks and show him the door. Just remember who Orrin called "My dear friend on NPR Ted Kennedy

@Bluto

There two things from your comment that has left me perplexed:

1) You don't like the fact that he helped cared enough about Sen. Kennedy to help him get and stay sober? Is that really a bad thing?

2) You've been supporting and voting for Sen. Hatch for the majority of his career, if not all of it, but now you want him gone? You voted for him two years ago, again. What has changed from 2008 to now? Because from what I've seen, he goes more right with every election.

What another perfect example of GOP Hypocracy.

Orrin Hatch will be alomost 80 years when he runs.
Almost 90 at the end of the term - IF he lives that long to finish it.

"When first running in 1976, among other issues, Hatch criticized former Senator Frank Moss's 18-year tenure in the Senate, saying that many Senators, including Moss, had lost touch with their constituents."

What a hypocrite.

@pikap1868

Who said helping get Teddy get off the Sauce was a bad thing? Never mentioned that.

What Hatch did do was stand by as Bush added 2.5 Trillion to the debt and he did not speak up.
Back in the 80's Hatch was a fighter, Now, he's just coasting.

Also this Nation woke up. Obama has added another 3.5 trillion to the National debt in just 2 years.

It's now coming up on 15 Trillion, acutally 127 Trillion with unfunded mandates.

The Tea Party has akwakened everyone.

Kings in Europe did not serve this long.

He's pulling right, now, becuase he is feeling the heat and he saw what happened to Bennett.

It's time for new blood, change is good.

We have choices now, and Hatch won't get out of the Primaries.

They think they are Entitled. The Founding Fathers never intended Congressman to serve a lifetime.

He's overstayed his welcome and will go out just like Benentt, kicking and screaming.

His votes during this coming year will make all the difference to me as to who I will support in the primary.
I think he's learned from the tea-party movement. I think (hope) he will be voting completely and totally to reduce the size of federal government.
When I've written to Hatch over the years, I get at least a somewhat personal reply. That didn't happen with Bennett.
If Hatch really does become a conservative I will be supporting him. If not, I agree with the other posters here, he should retire!

Of course he is seeking re-election - why would we expect anything different? What would he do if he retired?

Hatch will be taken out just like Bennett in the nazi cacuss system. The mindless who controll the state will repeal hatch and replace him with a Mike Lee Clone. Maybe a Carl Wimmer(Aghast), or a Cris Buttars. Maybe Kilpack will come back and seek the senate. The fact is ,is that a republican Mindless clone will be put in washington for comic relief. GOD help our poor state.

Hatch is a prime example of why we need term limits.

I've been hearing the seniority thing for years. I still don't see what it really does for the average Utahn. He has managed to get his supporters appointed to this and that, but our schools receive little money from the federal government at the cost of a lot of control and the federal government still owns two thirds of State Land. Its time to make a case for what you have done with all that seniority.

It's time to come home, Orrin. I'm sure you've made plenty of money for yourself and your friends at the expense of taxpayers.

Wow. You could have knocked me over with a feather...Orrin Hatch running again. Who would have thunk it? This guy is the neediest person among a Congress full of needy people. As these guys get old, the fact of their own insignificance becomes ever more apparent. Senator is who they are and who are the interlopers that would deny them the right to the limelight? Pathetic.

With the election of Mike Lee still fresh on their minds, hopefuls on the right will come out of the woodwork soon. If Jason decides it is too soon, there will be others where he came from. Don't count Huntsman out on this race either.

Geo guy

I have to go with Hatch if Huntsman runs. Huntsman lost me with that governors for climate change thing he got caught up with Arnold on. I hope Huntsman goes to China or something and stays there. I also hope someone new and right defeats Hatch. I understand Hatch's arguement about seniority but sometimes you just gotta have new blood. And this is one of those times.
