A clear case of "paid to say good things"

I would agree with this opinion. Obviously, there have been struggles this year, much more than there should have been. But this team is making progress and Bill is right, there are building blocks in place. Next year, if (and that is a BIGGG if) everyone stays, this team will be much better. The only senior on the roster is Jay Watkins, who unfortunately has been a non-contributor this year due to injury.

Will Clyburn deserves to be first team all-mwc, but will probably be second team beacuse of the team's record.

Jiggy plays out of control too much, but he is the best point guard we have had since Mark Jackson.

Foster is a defensive force who is getting better at rebounding the ball. Id like to see him get more touches in the paint. I know he is not Luke Nevill, but it would help the spacing I think.

OBrien, WAshburn, Glover, and Hines have all showed moments of solid play and potential. Kupets has been able to shoot well a few times.

Oh come on Bill
"Facing one of the more athletic and tough teams in the league"
Wyoming is next to last in the league 8-10 and 1-3 in the conference. This was not a break out game.
Hyperbole.

Utah will be fine

With Guiot, Lee and Monson red shirting, and OBrian playing significant minutes. You also have a pretty solid recruit in Matthews.

Teams don't win with JC transfers. You can try to Fill a gap. What Utah tried to do was stop the bleeding, but you never really win with JC players. Next year you are going to have all 4 JC transfers as seniors - Watkins, Kupet, DiMaria and Cylburn. Additionally Foster will be a senior. I look at next year Utah will be the pretty good - they might come in 5th in the PAC12.

That win was nothing more than lipstick on a pig. This team has some very talented pieces in place but is not getting coached up. We only score off junk and have no offensive identity. I think Coach could have succeeded if he had hired some capable assistants that have the proper basketball acumen. But he chose to go the easy route and bring in guys that don't know, or can't teach, a motion offense, spacing, moving without the ball, weakside cutting to the rim, etc. We beat teams that don't play team D and get waxed by anyone that has a semblance of team defense.

What does "fine" mean?

How many losses = fine?

Here comes the spin doctor Bill Riley himself. He and Greg Wrubell should get toghether and go bowling and talk about how great their programs are and see who is the bigger homer.

Sorry, I stopped reading when you said, "Facing one of the more athletic and tough teams in the league..." referring to lowly Wyoming. You had little credibility before saying that and none after!!!

The utes basketball program is a ship wreak! Time for you rats to jump off!

At least Wrubell would be talking about a great program! Riley has to pick stuff with the chickens to talk about his team.

Great programs win more than one game in the NCAA Tournament over a 17 year span. If and when byu ever does anything in the NCAA Tournament, then I will give you some credit, but don't start with the "great program" talk. You did not even win the MWC last season.

Do Utah fans ever get tired of "defining" why BYU is never great at anything?

Great programs don't get passed over by the NCAA, NIT, and CBI, yet Larry Scott cited "athletic prowess" when he extended the PAC invite...

Utah Man, can you define what constitutes "athletic prowess"...

First, Utah was looked at mostly by the recent football success. Second, still with Utah being down in hoops, they are still the 12th or 13th most prestigious basketball program in the country.

BYU has two great players in Fredette and Emery. Maybe the best backcourt in the country. Even with these two players, unless they get the perfect draw in the NCAA's, they will get dominated on the post. Davies is a nice player, but he looks a lot better because of Fredette and Emery as does their other big guy.

Utah appears to be turning it around and should be pretty competative from here on out. I look forward to seeing Utah for the rest of the year. The CSU game will be a good one to go to as they are honoring the final four team....
