Bravo, Eyres! This article is a must read for even the average filmgoer. WHO are these people that rate each motion picture? Do they have the same VALUES that I do? What CRITERIA are used?
While not attacking the MPAA founder of the rating system, you make an excellent point that can be related to those who rate the films today: "...not the person we would choose to make the determination of what movies our kids ought to see."
With the rating system, the MPAA -- an film-industry industry organization that profits from box-office successes -- has taken over one element of how we evaluate movies. Wrong!
