Now its time to impeach Jim Matheson!
Speaker Boehner missed an opportunity to strengthen his appeal to his religious fundamentalist base. He could have paraphrased the Apostle Paul in this manner: "When I was a common man working my way through the American dream by sweeping floors and attending night school to get a college education I thought as a Democrat and supported the policies of JFK and FDR, but now that I am rich I can see more clearly through the champagne colored glasses that wealth can buy and have tasted of the good life of society's elite, I think as a Republican.
Let's hope he isn't as ideologically-bound as his immediate predecessor. Let's also hope he holds his ego in check much better than she did.
How refreshing it is to see that gavel in the hands of somebody, anybody other than MRS. Pelosi!!!
Now, go forward and make us proud or you will be fired like the little misses you have just replaced.
@FDRfan
If he was working his way through college to better himself then he was already thinking as a Republican. If instead he was spending his time dreaming up ways to get a free ride off those who work and are self sufficient then he would have been thinking like a Democrat.
Pelosi.
Good Lord, I despise that woman!
I've literally taken an oath to "defend the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic". The other night on TV I saw a clip in which earlier this week she said, with that plastic smile of hers intact, that Democrats have been serious about trying to reduce our national debt. This, despite the obvious fact that a year ago she suceeded in cramming a nationalized health care bill down our throats that cost over a TRILLION dollars.
Make that a trillion dollars we do NOT have.
And yet she said it with a straight face.
She is, quite frankly, a "domestic enemy" and needs to be jailed and then tried for treason in order to save our country. And, no, that's not a typo.
To Boehner and the Republicans in charge...do a better job or we'll fire you, too.
So far Boehner has my approval after the way he politely responded to the wailing's of Reid that the Republicans can forget making any changes to any laws or programs he and Obama invented. Reid declared that the Senate will not tolerate interfering with repairing our economy and repairing our excessive debt.
Boehner's reply was a polite thank you to Reid for reminding him and this assembled bipartisan group before him about the mess the Democrats and Obama have left this country in. Now they will try and fix it. That's a facsimile of what was said but you had to hear how gracious that Reid was told to shut up.
I just hope the Republicans don't turn this country over to corporate America as they promised and put government back in the hands of the people.
What really surprised me about this ceremony and reading of the constitution was the contempt there was from some elected congressmen calling our constitution outdated and impossible and no longer a relevant document to american government and the way it does business. I think he was speaking for Obama.
