Good insight. It is unfortunate that there is really no competition in the WAC
this year. It is also too bad the Utes will not help the Ags RPI. Here's
hoping the Aggie can put on a crazy run and sweep the WAC. That is no easy
chore no matter what league you are in. Go State!!!
Its funny the other day after watching the USU/Hawaii game I was thinking, what
the heck does Newbold do for the team besides play pretty good defense. In the
end the only thing I could come up with was that he doesn't make many mistakes.
Turns out that's exactly what he does.
Newbold Does more than just not make mistakes for the Aggies. He is on pace to
become a 1,000 point scorer this season. He is #6 all time in 3 point field
goals made. #9 all time in 3 pt percentage # 8 all time in total assists. He is
in the top 10 all time in free throw percentage and was USU Defensive player of
the year as a Freshman, Something he is very much in the running for this season
as well. Oh forgot to mention last game he had a game leading 9 rebounds just
shy of a double double. And currently ranks as one of the leading rebounders in
WAC play. No wonder coach Morrill has had a hard time keeping him off the floor
for the past 4 years. Not to mention the assist to turnover ratio!
We love Newbold!
Thank you for the RPI discussion--great insight. The Aggies are playing for a
high seed in the WAC tourney, and must win the tourney if they hope to advance
to the national tourney. Given the increasing strength in some of these other
"mid-major" conferences, the WAC will only get the one team in the
tourney this year.
