Utah losing to the 300th(give or take) best team in the nation on Christmas day: Priceless.
San Diego's previous 2 losses were against D-II teams, so terrible in fact that ESPN does not even track their programs.
How bad is the WCC again Utes?
correction:
San Diego's previous two wins. I got a little type happy
The way things are going, the Utes may set several new records this year. Unfortunately, all records for futility. When does spring football start?
This is just sick. Jim Boylen must go. He is taking the program backward, not forward. In his fourth year, the team is worse than in his first. This is not progress.....
The Bottom Line...a loss to Portland before conference play is likely then 5 and 11 or 6 and 10 in conference with an out in the 1st round the MWC conference leaves a record of either 12-19 or 13 and 18. My guess is this team mails it in once after 3 weeks of conference play. 20 losses is not off the table. The 7 wins have been against very poor teams.
Two programs heading in opposite directions:
Utah lost to San Diego(3-10) 64-67, the worst team in BYU's new conference next year.
BYU beat Arizona(11-2) 87-65, the best team in Utah's new conference next year.
Is it possible that the Utes don´t finish last in the conference? This could be the best year in basketball for the MWC, and how ironic it is that the second most well known team in the conference is struggling so bad.
UNLV is back and having a great year.
BYU has Fredette,
SDSU is playing fantastic, and UNM is also doing very well.
no one that could do anything listened to us when we asked for boylen's replacement last spring. how bad does it have to get to make someone listen?
If Boylen is gone after this year, I wonder if Rose (post-Fredette) or Morrill would be interested in coaching in a real conference?
Chin up, Utah, you aren't as bad as 1996-97 BYU, 1-25 on the season (thanks Utah State for letting us have one victory).
I say let the coach do his thing until his contract runs out. Things will be fine.....
Wiley Old School
You're confused; the conferences are all real; the only thing that isn't real is clueless fans who think that changing conferences will somehow make the Utes special again.
"I wonder if Rose or Morrill would be interested in coaching in a real conference?"
I'm sure they'd both rather be coaching for a real team.

Is that what the U has become, an appendage of the PAC.
The U wasn't even mentioned in the question.
See, I think that Tommy would coach at the U regardless of the conference (If he were interested in leaving Westminster).
I still think the U is a good coach's dream job, who is out there right now, even if they were still in the MWC.

Rose was offered his dream job at Houston. He stayed at BYU.
Well we really have hit rock bottom haven't we? I mean losses to bottom feeders of the WCC such as Pepperdine and UC San Diego? What's next up on the schedule a loss to Portland and then AF? My oh my, if we weren't so bad I'd say to ship off the players to Westminister, oh wait most of the players already left. Why is it taking Chris Hill so long to pull the trigger on firing the entire coaching staff!!! get rid of them, find someone that can build confidence and start us off fresh. If we're luck we'll finish off around 12 wins, wow a far cry from days gone past. More and worse of the same next year, 10 win season next year? We should find a cute name for our basketball team like the football players did for BSU... say the Utah Skirt Hikers?
Can't wait for UofU spring football, please get us out of this Basketball nightmare...Oh, I forgot...the Football team is going to stink pretty bad too...Dang, why don't they just quit spending my state tax dollars on a bunch of High School level talent. Better yet, I'll go watch the real college sports @ TDS! GOOOO COUGARS!!!!
The Utes will not finish last in the conference. IF they can right the assist/turnover ratio, they will do no worse than 6th.
Still, not good enogh.
New conference. New coach.
