Bowls are no longer special. Yeah, more football entertainment for the fans of those particular schools, but they are really meaningless. Cut the number down, use them as a playoff system, treat all schools fairly, and watch the system really take off. But the few are hording the cash, so unless Congress acts, the farce will continue.

Bowls are special. Just because you don't want to watch Team A and Team B play in the GOGETEM ___________(insert favorite company) Bowl down in Timbuktu, doesn't mean it is not special. Ask every player, coach and fan if they want their 6 or 7 win team to stay home from a bowl this year and they'll say...(insert what you think they'll say). The problem is not the Bowl system. The problem is the location. Too far away for people to travel. Bowls need to be close to the participants home base. Maybe even play the game at the home of the higher ranked team. Furthermore, give me a piece of paper and a pen and I can show you how an entire team can go to a bowl game within budget. Problem is these teams are basically getting a nice vacation as well as administrators coaches and families. Why did rutgers coaches get paid from over all bowl costs? Stupid.
