I can see that the down town merchants are all well to do and they think every thing is fine with all people. This is the Attitude of all Republicans as they will never see the real picture. There is a very real picture for people to panhandle; they have no jobs and t6hey and their families need to eat.
DrHall, please check your glasses for clarity.
The downtown panhandlers (and their hungry families) have other options than aggressively accosting people as they walk down the street.
I live in Luke Garrett's district, and he supposedly represents me at the council. Listen to your constituents and your conscience, Luke.
I have all but stopped going downtown as the panhandlers have gotten more numerous and fiercely quarrelsome.
It's as though they get some pleasure and satisfaction from bullying money from people.
Why not instead enforce the law that makes it illegal to smoke tobacco within 25 feet of building entrances? This would clean up the downtown area a lot and make it much nicer walking main street.
I really like the part of the provision that makes it illegal from dusk to dawn. During the day you can make a knowledgable decision about giving... at night it makes the situation more dangerous for all.
