Whit would be a natural pick and the best candidate available.

I think he'll be loyal and tell them no thanks though.

Peterson out of BSU may get a look.

Dan Mullen will be wearing the visor in Gainesville next year.

Where is Urban heading to? Where do you go after Florida, the SEC, and the pinnacle of college football? He passed on Notre Dame once before, and they just got a new guy.

Is Urban going NFL?

My goodness. I hope Urban does not do a Michael Jordan or Brett Favre and keep retiring only to come back......

Any 24/7 job will take its toll. ahhh, winning, winning, winning. At what expense?

Urban can never go to the NFLway to dictatorial in his styleif he treated professionals the way he treated the college playersthere would be insurrection all around!

Maybe Utah can get Urban to come and coach their basketball team.

Dan Mullen (Mississippi State), Kyle Whittingham (Utah), Chris Petersen (Boise State) would all be good choices, however, my bet's on Mullen for the job.

For Florida, Dan is a known commodity and could step in to the position and they wouldn't miss a beat. Bring anyone else in and Florida would likely suffer another down year as the team adjusts to a new coach's offensive and defensive sets.

Florida should go after Cris B.

Yah, and Brett Favre announced his retirement again as well!! I'll believe this when I see it. He seemed to do fine with his "heart ailment" & "health issues" last this year after announcing his "resignation". Too much time between now and the Outback Bowl. But, IF, in fact, he is leaving, I'll put my money on Mullen!

Florida would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and Whittingham would be foolish to turn it down if he's offered the job.

$4 to $5 million per year in a state with no personal income tax.

The hang up with Tennessee was Whit couldn't bring his own assistants with him.

If Florida allows him to choose his own staff, the decision would be a no-brainer.

Utah's football future may be hanging by a thread with no starting QB and now possibly an entirely new coaching staff.

My guess is that we'll see him on ESPN. I think he's wise to step down while he's still (relatively close to being) on top. The program in Florida has lost some steam and I think his record would suffer further if he were to remain. Props to him for focusing on his family.

I don't know if Florida is eying Coach Whit or not, but I've heard he may be in consideration for the Miami position. My guess is that he'll stay with Utah for at least 1 or 2 more seasons. After that, who knows?

Bronco Mendenhall is a lock for this job. And Maxie Pad will retire to become the offensive coordinator. Mark my words, it'll happen.

The school President of Florida used to be the President of Utah. Kyle will get the call or the coach from Mississippi State. Urban will wait one year before headed back to Notre Dame. I believe that Kyle will remain loyal. Less stress, better place to live, a million is a lot of cash already. Already heading to a power conference and will eventually earn more cash. Utah is now a coveted football coaching position.

Money in the bank...kick back and enjoy life. Why does someone always have to take something better than the job they are leaving? I love Scott Mitchell at Springville. We need more guys like that willing to coach at that level. Urban would be a great high school coach!

I'm betting that Coach Whit stays at Utah. I read a story a few days back that he turned down the Vanderbilt job.

Urban should come back as the OC, that would be legit. Hope he enjoys time with his family and remains free of any major health concerns.

Good point doughnutboy.

Maybe its game-over for Urban. Lots of folks retire early after being workaholics or road warriors. Put in your 20 and get out of the game.

Urban always takes care of Urban. A little R & R, sorting out options he has been thinking about for awhile and then a jump to more $,prestige and control. Its all about timing for him. He's at the center of the football world and it revolves around him. My guess he ends up in the NFL somewhere with a killer deal after some TV analyst time. Put $ on it!

I wish Urban well where ever he goes or whatever he does. Us Utah fans owe him quite a bit of thanks for turning around our program.
