Nice win Utes. Utes are not 5-0 at home they lost at home to Oral Roberts. (5-1)
Good catch arizona ute, I have updated the story to reflect your truth. We use the Associated Press story while our writer gets quotes and a gets a longer story ready for web and print and we then put in the new info. Tonight the AP had the Utes' record wrong.
No mention of Clyburn's almost triple-double?
23 points, 13 rebounds, 7 steals, and 4 assists.
Congrats Utes. Nice win. Keep them coming.
As a Utefan who can remember when the Huntsman Center would be rockin' and rollin' with huge crowds, the disappointing crowds of the last several years is testament to how bad the Utes have become!
This win was ugly against a team that was not very talented.
Nice win.
Keep improving.
Utefan,
It's more than just the past few years. Crowds weren't selling out when we were in the top 10. I feel it's more a reflection on our fan base than the program. We need to support the team and the program regardless of winning or losing. I would love our fan base to be like Nebraska football or Notre Dame or Michigan, Alabama. We say we are a big boy, want to be a big boy, but support the program like fickle little teenagers.
Nice win for our Utes. I too remember when the Huntsman drew bigger crowds. But I don't think the decline in numbers is a testament to how the program has dropped off since Majerus, but also a testament to how fickle many fans are. We support our Utes win or lose.
Not a bad start to the season utes. Congrats on the hard work.
Was at the game. First half was ugly for sure. Clyburn is really the only bright spot on the team. Nice player.
We ended up moving down to row 11 from row 28 with no problem. It is what it is with fan attendance right now.
Jury is still out on Boylen in my mind. Noticed JJ Obrien on the bench in a hoodie and sweats. Why would he not be in at least a shirt and tie? I just have a feeling that Boylen does not demand respect and that's a problem.
That fan base you are talking about that used to fill the Huntsman Center years ago was made up mostly of fans over 60 years of age. Many have passed on or are just too feeble to get to a game. The younger fans have not bought into the basketball program as they have the football program. With all the financial pressures people have now days and the ever increasing costs of student tuition, football and basketball tickets it is not hard to understand why. Utah will have the largest basketball arena in the PAC 12. Here's hoping that the fans will have a reason to return.
It's good to see the Utes improving. I think that there has been a lot of undue criticism of Coach Boylen, especially since Jace Tavita decided to leave the team, but I think people are missing the fact that people are overlooking the fact that he took over a program that Ray Giacoletti walked away from before the season was even over. And that was all after Majerus had left. I think this year will be a good one for the Utes.
As for the poor game attendance, I think that the past few lackluster seasons have driven away the fan base a bit. However, I think there are other factors contributing to it as well, not the least of which is the economy. Granted that tickets to watch the Utes aren't that expensive, but between family budgets being stretched thin, and half of Utes' games being played on weeknights, I think people are choosing to spend their time and money elsewhere.
I'm a BYU fan, but I have to give it to Clyburn: That's a sweeeeeeet stat line. Congrats on the win. Go, Cougars!
Go Clyburn. He is absolutely fun to watch play. I see potential in Jiggy Watkins and Jason Washburn. We definitely are improving and that is fun to see. We need more fans to come out and watch the games. Let's support our improving Ute squad and help them transition into the PAC12. Patience is a virtue and let's be patient in these times. I love my Utes and I am excited to see them excelling. Wake up fans and support our team, go to the games!
Perhaps the writer wanted everyone to forget about the Oral Roberts loss hoping no one would notice. Do over! Bring on Joel Osteen U!
Congrats on the win!
