Seems like no one is giving the Utes a chance against the Broncs! I'm not sure I'd buy into that. Utah has proven over and over that they're a different team in bowl games. As a Cougar fan, I wouldn't dare predict the outcome of this one. I think it will be very competitive, and might even be an upset.

"Get real, I rather lose by 50 than play in New Mexico vs. a 6 win team."

I guess you're getting de-sensitized to those 50 pt beat downs every year from TCU that it's no longer a big thing.

That reminds me of a kid I knew in Junior High who used to get "de-Pants'd" and "Wedgied" so often by bullies in school that he just became resigned to it and was heard to say to one of the bullies just before one of his many epic episodes, "(sigh) Okay, c'mon lets get it over with."

I guess I can see your point, once you've reached the point that you've been "wedgied" and "de-pants'd" in front of the whole school as badly as the Yewts have, you just get used to it and it's not a big deal anymore.

This is a good perspective to have and will help you enjoy your Pac 10 experience a little more. Good luck!

"Will you U hater/ybu fans please get off the 'bama team was unmotivated kick? Seriously... the only people that say that are the people that have never played a lick of competitive sports in their lives"

I guess you can lump most sports analysts and pundits from ESPN in that group then because I've heard it said by guys ranging from Colin Cowherd to Lee Corso to Mel Kiper Jr.

You can also include 'Bama head coach Nick Saban in that group as well.

You sure seem touchy about this...does it bother you to know that all the experts think this? Methinks thou doth protest too much.

Maybe Lee Corso will find Las Vegas almost as nice as Provo.

Wow sammyg said "mark it down" With three exclamation marks. Didn't you say the same thing for a BYU win over Utah this year too?

Oh the beauty and transperancy of the Y fans that come on Utah blogs to spread hate and confirm their lack of a life.

Critics mean nothing and do nothing and have no honor especially predictions made by critics who sit in their mom's basement but are only reliable in the act of attacking and predicting something they have no control over..

I Hope BYU puts a beat down on UTEP and congratulations on going bowling this year. I know several BYU fan / friends from Colorado that are going to the game and I am sure they will be entertained and have a good time.

I hope Utah beats BSU. I think they can because Nevada has paved the way and it is college football and nothing is for sure until the whistle blows at the end. Utah historically prepares well with several weeks time. I bet BSU dosesn't think they are going to slaughter Utah...but then again they are actually "doing it" and have HONOR and not just HATE.

Your right, you have a winning record in bowl games, you have only been to 15, compared to 28 by BYU, and the one that really matters, the National Championship, which you guys have too right? oh wait you don't

Syracuse, UT

And really no crew to New Mexico, its also on ESPN, like every bowl game.

Syracuse, UT

Whats sad is this is going to be your last bowl game for at least 30 years.

Ute4life, I agree with you. Utah was not unmotivated when they played Notre Dame, Utah was and is just over-rateed. I noticed Mr Cox guaranteed a win against BSU. Will that result in Kyle giving a single finger salute to Chris Peterson when BSU runs up the score (although I don't think Peterson is so classless as to do an onside kick when up by 40)

@ One nil to the arsenal and all of the other Y'ners
You are all sooo pathetic! This article was about the ESPN crew that is going to be there. It is a compliment to the Utes and BSU. It has nothing to do with you Y'ners and the LOSER bowl in New Mexico.
So why all the posts about ranking and the outcome of the game.
Regarding the outcome of the game> I have just looked into your cewgie crystal ball. It says that when the Utes win, all of the posts from you Y'ners will be "they were lucky", or "there was a bad call" or MY favorite is the ole "BSU was overrated they aren't that good". Come on cewgs, GET A LIFE and through you broken down crystal ball away.

"For such a prestigious program can you please tell us when BYU will win its first bowl game against a final ranked team this millennium?"

That day will come when BYU doesn't beat their ranked opponent so badly that their opponent no longer looks like a ranked team after BYU is through with them! Had BYU beat Utah (although they proved to be the better team), Utah would not be ranked. Things like that happen. The way to have your opponent still ranked after losing to you is to barely beat them and make it look like a close game.

Bring it on ESPN...our Ute's will roll and show the world they are a force to be reckoned with!

#5 utes most overrated ever? how about # 3 pitt? 3-7-1 sounds pretty overrated yet BYU claims that as a huge win on their way to the nc

You would think that getting beat by the Utes and having one of the worst seasons in years would keep the Cougars off of the boards for a few days. I guess not. I'm not sure why BYU fans are so obsessed with saying Utah will lose this game. Almost every Ute fan I have talked to thinks the chance of them winning is very small. But they will say, "never count them out though".
Also, why bring up beatdowns from the season? How many times did the Cougars get beat down? Were the Utes overrated for much of the season? Clearly. But at the end of the day, they will get another shot to prove that they are better than those losses.

It's funny that Cougar fans decided to bring up 1984, and are calling that bowl game, a "national championship game".
Ute fans, you have to give the Cougars credit. They did something only 5 other teams in history have done. Beat Michigan in 1984.

"through you broken down crystal ball away"

Are you serious?

If I were you, I'd run to the nearest school(regardless of whether it be high school, junior high, elementary, or preschool) and beg for them to take you.

For the record - I wouldn't be surpised one bit if yewties beat Boise. Boise is ranked like #9 or so right? yewties are #21 or so? I think the yewties will play all right.

If you're still reading( or attempting to read), hurry on your way now....

Hopefully Utah will not lay an egg like they did the last time on national TV against TCU. If Utah wins it will be their biggest win since their last BCS bowl. Boise is beatable as demonstrated against Nevada but they are a better team than Utah this year. Utah did beat a BYU team that was better than them this year but as all the haters are thinking right now, BYU is not as good as BSU this year. Hope Utah plays out of their heads in Vegas and keeps this one close. It could be their last nationally televised game for a long time.

Fort Worth, Texas

Shall we count beatdowns? Over three years Utah 3 BYU 9. So keep dreaming.

Also, 16 AP first place votes were given to Utah in 2008. So I guess not all pundits thought Bama wasn't motivated.

Using your logic I guess then your also saying that #16 Oregaon State wasn't motiviated playing BYU in Vegas after losing out on the Rose Bowl?

Which national championship bowl game did you play in? Oh the Holiday Bowl vs 6-5 MI? Sorry, that win is slightly better than what you will do to UTEP next week. That Cougar team had a SOS of #104 this Utah team #68.
