Best bowl this year is byu versing Utep. There is no way there will be a better bowl because we are way better than 6-6.

An epic beat down like Utah State did to BYU. Nothing absolutely nothing is comparable to being beat by Utah State. Why is no-one talking about the New Mexico Bowl. Cat got your tongue. Come on tell us about the NEEEWWW MEXXXXIICCCO Bowl. Silence, total silence. I would rather have someone talking about me than not even being part of the conversation because no-one and I mean no-one gives a hoot about BYU

"no-one and I mean no-one gives a hoot about BYU"

Which of course is why you're talking about BYU instead of Utah.

ESPN does a 25 Most Prestigious Football Programs ranking every decade. The most recent one was 2009 (pretty recent). Go look it up and tell me what Utah is ranked and what BYU is ranked. That is, if you can face the truth like a man.

And any talk about BYU and Utah right now is going like this:

"Boy, ranking the Utes at #5 was the polls' biggest blunder! Talk about overrated!"

"It is hard to believe that this BYU team is the same team that started 1-4. What an improvement!"

Cougar fans still bringing up '84.

Funny.

Will you U hater/ybu fans please get off the 'bama team was unmotivated kick? Seriously... the only people that say that are the people that have never played a lick of competitive sports in their lives. Individuals that attend a University and play a sport for that University (especially football in the South) would do anything to beat their own mom at a chess game. So quit yer bellyaching and own up to the fact that Utah is the more relevant team in recent history. And remember... NCAA D1 football is probably the most 'what have you done for me lately sports' on the planet. And pleeeeaaaase keep bringing up 84... it adds to your Ute Envy complex especially when there are national pundits that will label that "NC" as 'undermined' and 'questionable' and 'debatable'.

Seems like only cougar fans posting on Utah articles these days.

I will say that it must be difficult to realize that you just lost a game and most Utah fans have already moved on and no longer care for you or your fan base as a rival.

Let's face it, when you have to use TCU and Boise State to take shots at your rival after a 17-16 loss, you sound pretty pathetic. I guess that is why most of us don't like you very much and have no need for you anymore.

This Utah fan is moving on to focusing on the Vegas Bowl against a great opponent and then the Pac-12 with new and improved rivals on the horizon.

I am sure it will not be long before many others like myself realize that you are now the 9th most important game on our schedule next year.

3grandslams,

"One of the weakest bowl records ever?" Their "bowl record" is 12-3. Utah's 0.800 winning percentage is the best in college football among teams with more than 3 appearances.

You're probably suggesting that Utah's bowl opponents haven't been good. A word of advice - BYU fans shouldn't be bringing up bowl records in an attempt to insult anyone. Like Uteology pointed out, BYU is 10-17-1. Remember, the Cougars have losses to Indiana, Marshall, and Tulane in their bowl record.

Only the Crimson Tide coaches and players can tell whether they were "deflated and under motivated." What the record shows is that Utah handily won the Sugar Bowl, beating a Top 5, one-loss 'Bama in SEC territory.

As for "winning a bowl game when someone is trying to knock you out of the national championship," I give BYU credit for a great win. Just don't lose sight of the fact that "someone" was a 5-loss, unranked team.

The Spiker,

I love the self-depreciating humor!

Good luck Utes and Cougars. The Utes will definitely need it. And as far as BYU is concerned, it's always nice to have.

...and it's even more obvious that the number 5 ranking the utes achieved earlier this year is a source of bitterness for a fan of a team that shouldn't even be bowl eligible.

Get over it.

Even in the confirmation that the Utah BSU matchup is a top attraction this post-season, there are the bitter and jealous detractors that continue to say the world is flat, that Obama is not a US Citizen, that the US government planned the 9-11 attacks and that the Utes are not a top 25 team.

It's Still Great to be a Ute because while we maybe the biggest point dog in a bowl game this year at least we weren't listed as the least interesting bowl of the year, according to Rivals that distinction goes to TDS we'll play our bowl and we may lose but we are in the game rated 7th in terms of national interest with the top five Being Championship bowls as a fan I am excited. it is unrealistic to think you'll win all your games but at least we have the venue and the exposure and the chance at a relevant season. in 08 there were fans bummed about the Alabama Draw and yet look at what that gave us don't hate oppertunity because the stakes are high embrace it and attack it and at the end of the day you won't be left wondering. so hate on Yners we will suffer your slings and arrows and bitter jealousy because as a Ute you just aren't that relevant to us anymore.

Mussingaround,

We are talking about BYU the same way people talk when they go to a funeral. They were a nice person and it is so sad that they are gone. All you have now are memories of a totally bad season that you have to make excuses for and pretend that you are part of the conversation when everyone is really wondering why you keep sneaking into the party you were never, ever invited to in the first place.

By the way, Stewart Mandel in Sports Illustrated rates the Utah-Boise State Las Vegas Bowl the seventh-best bowl match-up of the year, while he has the BYU-UTEP pairing in the New Mexico Bowl rated 33rd out of 35 bowl games.

33rd out of 35 bowl games.. HHEEEE HEE HEE !!!!
HARR HAR HAR....Cough, cough, whoa, whoaweeee

Nothing will be better than seeing the highly overrated utes have another total beat down on National TV.

The BSU bowl is going to be highly watched and I would say that it is even better that the 7th rated bowl. There are many people that want to see the total and complete beat down that is about to be inflicted by the Boise State Broncos! The question that many fans and experts have is not if BSU will win but how bad the beat down will be. Bowl streak ended, top 25 ranking gone. At the end of the game the experts will still be talking about how this Utah team my have been the most overated college football team ever. To go from a 5th place ranking to not ranked on national tv is pricless. I will admit that I will be watching in HD :)

Brent Mussberger did the broadcast of the Fiesta Bowl when Utah hammered Pitt. All during the broadcast Brent kept referring to Utah by saying, "The little engine that could, the little engine that could, the little engine that could". Maybe Brent will be saying the same thing during his broadcast of the Las Vegas Bowl, but who will it apply to, Utah or Boise St? Go Utes!

@hedge

No actually you are wrong; ESPN just announced that they are sending the MTN crew.

@Riverton
Are you still talking about "Prestigious" rankings of all time? For such a prestigious program can you please tell us when BYU will win its first bowl game against a final ranked team this millennium? The last time that happened was in 1996.

My, what a bunch of nice objective comments. I am afraid that Utah is going to get their clock cleaned.I will be good for about 30 minutes. Utah's defense will play pretty good until they get tired. Kyle is a big game coach and does a nice job when he has the talent. This year he does not have enough talent. My only real question is this, Is the MUSS going to hire another stripper for this game like they did for the TCU game? Oh, I guess I lied, I have another question or two. Do Ute fans know what cannon fodder is? How long will your fans be loyal after watching beat down after beat down? Get ready, here comes the first one.

Jordan Wynn,
I'm a BYU graduate and football fan. I wanted you to know that one of the highlights of this year's season was following the way you handled adversity with injuries and criticism. I admire your steadiness under pressure and positive attitude, and am sorry that many people only look to statistics or wins vs. losses. I am sorry you won't be able to play in the bowl game and hope your recovery goes well. Thank you for being a good example of a leader. God bless you. Woodworker
