All my life I have been plagued by vision of unfortunate children in foreign lands. I think it started with my mother pressing me eat all the food on my plate because some starving Chinese kid would love to have it.

Television was a cash cow for the foreign charities. The pictures of the dirty, fly infested kids were just too much for a lot of people. The only thing is, I think that sometimes I see the same commercial that I saw 30 years ago with the same kids.

So far, all the pictures and reports that I see today seem to show the same kind of life for these people as the long distance past. It would seem to me that the trillions of dollars supposedly spent to relieve poverty would have had some effect, but where is it shown?

Recently I have seen a TV commercial begging money for the Holocaust survivors in Russia. The Holocaust was over 65 years ago and was all about Jews. Jews in Israel and in the United States are probably richer than most Americans. I hope these commercials are aimed at them.
